Hey all! Please check out Helix! We are aiming for the best looking most fun Souce mod of all!
The RGB fot my lighting is 255 210 210. I did at one build make it much more red. But it didn't accentuate the shadow effects I wanted. It made all the shadows have a reddish look to then, which in my opinion looked horrible. So I toned down the redness of the lighting to get those cool shadow effects. They are not "bad excuses" I think of everything when it comes to lighting. Your thoughts are just opinions from someone who has radically different(and bad) opinions on lighting and validate them as "the correct way to light."

About the lighting comments. I did infact use env_cubemaps, and I was going for a dull lighting atmosphere because the base is old and decrepid. I didn't want to overlight and I thought fog wouldn't look realistic on Mars.

Gay, a new skin wasn't needed. I couldnt find my mod Helix, I really hope I dont have to put it up AGAIN.
The way I did our train level (Rootcanal) Is by using a combination of scrolling textures, func_tracktrain\'s and trigger_push / hurts to create the Illusion of constant movement.
yes of course :) You dont adjust lightmaps til the very end since compile time goes way up :)
Ya, the texture you see now is a base for the model. Details and rust around edges will be added.
We will be adding something for the head. Some sort of visor, or viewing area like a ballistic helmet or something related :)
Im trying to show as much progress on the mod as possible. Xyos finished it and had some time, so he took some screens, and put them up.
Removing the blocky look will takes minutes, but some parts are supposed to have hard edges.
Remember that everything is WIP. Mostly everything posted is because we want feedback either because we dont like how it turned out and want suggestions, or just generic opinions. Alot of the work you wont see is models/textures we completed and will not be displayed until the maps they reside in are complete.

Neither me nor Xyos has ever played Killzone. We are more of Xbox people. Any similarities are mearly Coincidence. But thanks for the positive comments. :)
This is the world model, not the V_model. Bevelling edges and raising the poly-count does not bid well for a World model. As for the shinyness and concrete look, its because of the envmapcontrast vmt line. Its been removed and adjusted.
As for the weapon itself, the v_model version will look alot better obviously, but the generic shape will remain the same.

That kind of brushwork has to be very expensive to the engine, and it probably makes vis take forever in the compile. When you go that much detail you should use model. But it looks really nice none the less.
I think I might change the Lighting in "Undertaker" I will see what it looks like. :)
As for doing the coding first, we thought about that and decided it would be alot easier to do all the content first and THEN code. And I used those games to explain this as examples, It isn't going to be like those two games slapped together, alot of thought will go into the game play. :p
And we use XSI mod tool 4.2 to do the modeling. You can get it for free. :D
I am aware the site isn't as good as it should be. I was planning to revamp it later on, which I will do within the next week.

As for the HDR, I think it makes the ENTIRE map look next-gen. And This mod will be focused towards looking aweosme, and running fine. Keep in mind, we are keeping the FPS in mind. :p
It is an old cargo train. It is supposed to be dilapidated.
The reason why Undertaker is yellowish is because the sun is setting.
And all weapons will be balanced so any gun is good to use.
THere will be NO auto aim. I only say Halo because the HEALTH of the players will be like halo. It takes alot to kill. Also we might have CTF.
It would be cool to have a huge store.
I would like to see this mod! Don't give up!
Sounds like an awesome mod! I just looked at about 100 different mods and all of them sounded bad and unoriginal. But I like this one! Unfortunately my Harddrive only have like 3 Gigs left and I need to buy another one, but if I had alot of room I would SO download this!
