I started to work with CryEngine Sandbox twelve years ago. (damn, already 13 years?) I also work with Game Maker and I'm learning with Unreal Engine 4.
Recently I've added a feature of walking on roofs and jumping. (GM is not too much frendly with the z axis, so originally I didn't even plan it. Then I had a dream about it, so I made it true.)
I really like it. Player now can walk on roofs, climb ladders, climb ledges, jump and jump from roof to roof. I think I'll also feature some kind of parkour.
Even though I've made the screenshot in first person, the game's primary view is still top down view. Maybe I should add a special angled parkour top down view. I'll be experimenting with that.
be carefully not to loose your track of a topdown fake 3d game :D
btw, nice shadow from walking guy :)
No fear, the 3d is just a stage of a development, in the end it will be an izometric 3d-like game. :D
Thanks, I also like the shadows, I'm glad you gave me that suggestion. But I think there will be no shadows of buildings. It eat too much memory, it's difficult to make it work correctly and I think it's not even necessary for good visual feeling.
