I guess it's time for a new bio since I've had the other one for eons. Head dev of Insolence, I have some very limited experience with coding, yadda yadda yadda.

I always thought valve did that, knowing how some of the leak textures have them

It was a way of identifying textures that were up for removal during the development of Half-Life 2.

Yeah, Valve's stuff, it was no user who did it. Trollholesā€¦ from our perspective. From theirs, from any dev's perspective it is merely a part of the work and nothing more. hl2-beta.ru has a patch that almost removes crosses from leak textures (they are kinda visible if you try to notice them), although that one isn't included (I never even knew about it!). For example lots of stone\ and plaster\ textures are marked like that.

So I wouldn't blame Valve so much.

Eh, it could easily be remade in Vue.

So I found out that CSS has a version of sky_c17_05 that isn't in the leak. However, some asshole must have thought it would be funny to place a pink X over it. If somebody could remove the X from the textures I would seriously appreciate it!
