I guess it's time for a new bio since I've had the other one for eons. Head dev of Insolence, I have some very limited experience with coding, yadda yadda yadda.

Swamptrooper early release

TheZealot Blog 1 comment

Hi there, I figured I'd upload a playermodel and NPC of the swamptrooper I recently ported for Gmod since this one is almost sorta semi-decent. Furthermore, these guys are still gonna appear in MCM4 but their role in the story is subject to change. Anyway, here's the Gmod addon!

My fucked up experience in C&CG: ZH

So I decided to have a singleplayer skirmish match in Zero Hour, I set it up as a 5v3 game with me and 2 hard AIs against 5 medium AIs. I decided to go with the US Laser General because, face it, I am a sucker for freakin' laser beams. I built a couple of supply buildings as usual, followed by a couple of barracks and so on. But then, within 10 minutes the 2 AIs who were allied with me seemed to think it would be a good idea to cut my damn supply line off by capturing every oil drill that was within a 50 mile radius of my base. As if that was bad enough, they then proceeded to build supply buildings in front of the resources that are right in front of my fucking base even though they still had plenty for themselves. Then I got attacked and lost pretty much every unit I had on the map but the builders and one laser turret. I only had enough resources to make around 10-20 infantry units, so that's exactly what I decided to do. Then, about 30 seconds later, the goddamn legion of hell shows up at my doorstep with all 5 of the medium AIs coming to completely end me even though the 2 hard AIs are way more built up than I am, and both of them have multiple nukes preparing to fuck their shit up. I didn't survive the attack, naturally and had to sit back and watch as the two hard AIs were inevitably defeated by everyone and their grandma. Yet one of them actually decided to fire his nuke at himself due to the big influx of enemy forces at his base. So he effectively blew himself halfway to hell and got eliminated. Then the other hard AI actually fired his nukes at the enemies' bases. It really didn't do any good though since he was defeated as well. It was one hell of a catastrophe.

Unnamed mod idea (repost)

I figured that this would be much more interesting to read than my paranoid rambling.

I thought up a Half-Life 2 singleplayer mod in which the player is on a team of npcs that have a certain "class". Think of it as a sort of TF2 clone with npcs, and yellow and green teams. The objectives for each level will be different.
Alright, here are the npc ideas, and being the cut content fanboy that I am, I'll be using some coding from Insolence once the mod is done.

conscripts - The lowest and most expendable, have a measly 30 HP
-Use city citizen male_02 models with jumpsuits that correspond to their team color
-carry ar1s alyxguns and shotguns.

medics - The closest thing to a humanitarian warrior you'll get on this quad-conflict battlefield. These guys are legally certified paramedics who have decided to kill the other three teams' forces while healing their own. They are higher in status than the conscripts and are more respected than them. Have 40 HP.
-Use HL2 leak medic skin, white shirt color changes based on team color. To prevent the cross from blending into red medics' shirt colors, it will have a white circle surrounding it.
-Typically use smg2.

grunts - The footsoldiers who decided not to turn around and run screaming when they were conscripts. Have 60 HP.
-Somewhat Ironically use the leak conscript model, clothing corresponds to team color.
-Better equipped than conscripts, carry OICWs and SMG1s

grunt majors - The grunts who were rewarded for their effort. Have 65 HP.
-have same appearance as the rocketeers.
-Armed with OICWs and Shotguns, usually accompanied by a grunt and a medic.

rocketeers - These guys are not popular with their teams on account of them being rumored to have an unhealthy fetish for explosions. Some say that they were secretly trained by Micheal Bay. Have 60 HP.
-Use a leak conscript model variant that has a helmet, trenchcoat, and radio backpack.
-Armed with RPG, keeps distance but not as far as the marksmen.
-Guarded by squads of medics to make sure he can get a few rounds in.

officers - These guys are officers, they passed the officer exams to become officers, and what did they get? Uncomfortable gas masks and silly darth vader-sounding voice changers They rally not-so-brave conscripts and send them off proudly to their deaths. Have 50 HP
-Use Metrocop model, and I bet you can't guess what their clothes do involving their team color.
-Carry pistols smg1s and smg2s
-Accompanied by squads of conscripts

marksmen
- The socially awkward always aim better. I'm thinking 10 HP to compensate for their accuracy.
-Use the gasmask citizen model, corresponding clothes to team color
-Use annabelles and leak sniper rifles
-Have "long vision/shoot" spawn flag in hammer
-Prefer elevated areas rather than the front lines, obviously.

elites - These sons of bitches just decided to go above and beyond in the field. They were rewarded with what they describe as "cool voice changers" and "comfortable gas masks". Have 70 HP.
-Use the combine soldier model, corresponding colors and shit, dawg.
-Equipped with smg1, shotgun, oicw, and pulse rifle

Punk-Asses - Organic robots that are programmed to be asthmatic and support ground forces. Originally known as the Mobile Assault Crematorium MK1, they were renamed Punk-Asses when a red marksman who was scouting a blue area radioed in "Mission control, there are some punk-ass robots guarding the perimeter!" They are incredibly slow and not too bright, but when they are attacking they are a force to be reckoned with. They have 300 HP,
-Use the cremator model, immolator lasers and robes vary based on team color.

Unnamed npc-based singleplayer mod ideas.

When I'm in bed I usually don't fall asleep until I think up something. Gaming isn't always the topic, but in this case it was. I will probably add more details on this once Insolence is finished, which could take a while.
