My name is Mike and I love games design. I have previously been employed by Microsoft Game Studios as a designer on an Xbox 360 title - and I also love working on projects in my free time. I'm currently 24 years old and enjoy gaming and games development. For a long while I've been using all versions of the Unreal Editor. Nothing interests and satisfies me more than creating a game environment in which others can enjoy. I am multi-skilled in various areas of game development, including level design, modelling, texturing, gameplay design, and programming (C#, JAVA, UnrealScript).

Considering Epic games have released the UDK, (and allow you to sell your UDK games for up to FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS before they ask for a dime - USING THEIR ENGINE) then you should have a little more respect for them. Buy their game. Its not expensive.
Torrents have their use, but encouraging people to illegaly torrent games on a website such a moddb is just pathetic.

I dont think renegade will release a UDK version. It takes alot of work to convert a UT3 mod to a UDK game due to the fact that you can't use UT3 assets in UDK, it automatically detects them and strips them out (plus its against the EULA of UDK). So they'd have to make their own models for each prefab UT3 model that they used, among other reasons. I think they've made the right choice by sticking with UT3. Tactical Assault made the move from UT3 to UDK and it cost us months and months of extra work.

Hey ekto mate. Good to hear from you. We should catch up on msn sometime :)
Yeah I havent played with unity for a while. I will check it out :) I've been working on a solo UDK project recently, doing all texturing/modelling myself (something i never did with TA). Will show you some screens if youre interested.

I'd suggest trying to get your hands on 3D Studio Max! I've tried Max and blender and I can safely say 3DS Max is 100x better! I wouldn't touch blender with a bargepole! I've also worked with unity alot, and although it is quite a neat engine with lots of easy customization, its not at all powerful, and youre confined to very low-graphical games with unity. I'd suggest sticking to UDK :D

I apologise for late reply to all your questions.

1) This is a round-based game. You will have one life per round, and your team will win when either all the opponents are dead, or the objective has been completed. Exactly like Tactical Ops.

2) We can't give an exact %. Tactical Ops is our main influence and motivation but this game is not a sequel, and is not affiliated with Tactical Ops in any way. We want to incorporate all the good features of Tactical Ops without all the bad ;)

3) This is still to be decided. Releasing a beta is a higher priority for us at the moment.

4) We have always had to develop our own anti-cheat, that situation hasn't changed.

5) There is a good mix of map layouts which will hopefully be favoured by different types of players.

Mosin rifle is too old and would never be used in a modern combat scenario, which is the feel we are trying to give.

I've noticed that on the barrel, the guns, and the walls you seem to have a really amplified normal map. This is making it look way too bumpy - this might be the effect you want for the walls but to me it seems to make the guns and barrels look like theyre made of polystyrene instead of metal. Hope it helps :)

The trees themselves are proper models. The only speedtrees in this map are bushes - I don't like speedtree stuff either tbh. Looks too fake when you look at it.

Seriously looking forward to this! Recently completed doom2 on ultra-violence, and re-discovered my love for this retro game.
I'd still prefer to play Doom over a modern game like crysis, anyday! You can't beat the gameplay. Thats why a remake on good graphics would be so awesome =)

This mod will be "semi-realistic", taking after the gameplay of the original Tactical Ops, which contained more arcadey elements causing the player to strafe more than other "realistic" tactical mods. You will also be able to take many more hits than other tactical games, keeping the arcade style. Too many players get annoyed with one-hit kills in games like Cod4 and CSS. Hopefully our mod will be a breath of fresh air.

So how will it work? Who/what decides how/when a team recieves a building? If its interchangeable between FPS/RTS at any point, then surely thats like 30 players all trying to control one base?

It is possible in UT3 to do realtime reflections from the body of water, giving it a much nicer effect. However, the body of water in this map is quite large, and would be too demanding for most hardware. Because of this, we decided to have other areas of the map in higher detail =)

Will this be FPS/RTS interchangeable? Like, normal players control soldiers, and commander views battle in RTS-style or something?

Concept art is amazing... very much indian style. Really anticipating this! Will it be hack-n-slash style or RPG stat-progression style? I'm really hoping its the latter, an RPG for UT3 would be amazing...

Looking forward to the first asset shots =)
