Looks like you put a lot of thought and effort into this. I have a feeling that gamers will take one look at the screen shots and go "oh the graphics suck". Still, I hope it works out for you. I would play it :)

How the hell do you play it? The instructions say so "run" the .jar file but how the hell do you "run" a .jar file?? It's not an exe it's a compressed folder x_x

LoL. I never understand why people get so upset over stuff like this. After watching the video myself I have to admit that it is just hilariously unrealistic. Maybe if the people let out blood curdling screams or begged for mercy I could see people getting upset. I mean, come ON. It's even got the original DOOM theme playing over top of it :P

Sorry for the wordiness of my previous post but it's a subject that is very close to home for me. I just had to post a second comment. After reading my first it really felt like a flame. I was just trying to help the dev team tbh. The idea sounds pretty original despite the obvious existing influences they named. And just in case the devs see this: Don't get discouraged by naysayers. Don't let compliments ruin the polish of your work. Take criticism to heart and never give up on your dreams.

The one creature looks just like a Hydralisk and if you say any different you are just fooling yourself. It's not that hard to come up with an original looking, sci-fi, bug-like creature. Just look at all the zillions of games that already have these. For that matter, the whole futuristic, space, sci-fi setting has been DONE TO DEATH. If the developer's game mechanics are solid then the setting and visuals themselves shouldn't matter at all. And, to be honest, the game itself would probably be received much better by gamers if they picked a more fresh setting altogether. I know, of coarse, this isn't always possible. You have an artist or a set of artists and designers and they work within the medium that is the most familiar to them.

On this note I would just like to take the time to say that I've noticed 90% of the comments on this site are just stupidly positive. True criticism is ABSOLUTELY necessary for the creative process. I had a bit of game dev experience back in the days of Quake with a now dead company called Catsoft. Too often I saw games with poorly implemented mechanics or even straight out copy right infringement just get straight published because, "Well gosh! Everyone says it's great!" but think about who "everyone" is. Coworkers and family members. Then it gets out to the playtesters or worse, the public and we're back in development for another YEAR or sued. This is what eventually killed Catsoft.

It's ok to tell a dev that you love their product. You SHOULD praise them for what they do right. But PLEASE don't go around saying it's the greatest just because you enjoy playing the game. In the end this is worse than the people who just flame. If someone just goes around say "This is the worst game evar and it sucks balls." you at least know they are just a douche bag. But when 90% of your community says nothing but "This is the most amazing thing ever and I can't wait to play it." you start to think they are right. ;)

Traditional? Are you kidding? C&C would be "traditional". TA mixed up everything and even more modern rts games still don't seem to follow any of the ideas it had set down except, perhaps for Supreme Commander which we all know is from the same developers anyway. Also, didn't Spring do the exact same thing? I think it looks pretty good, tbh, but Spring already did all this and is really damned convenient and the multiplayer works like a charm. Not to mention the amazing mod support it has. The only thing I can say for this game is that the graphics engine feels A LOT like the original TA and Spring tends to be slow even on higher end machines. Definately going to take this one for a ride around the block and come back to see how much I put my foot into my mouth :P

I've always been a HUGE fan of the Dungeon Keeper games so I'm really glad to see that someone is keeping this alive. The game looks really unpolished, though. I noticed you're using the GUI from the first game too. Still, if the game has all the classic DK components and manages to function I doubt the appearance will matter much at all.

I agree with leaving the German speech but having English subtitles. I think most English speakers (especially Americans) would be surprised how much German is already in our language. Not only that, but, translations usually end up sounding lame. See English dubbed anime. It's difficult to explain exactly WHY to anyone who doesn't know both languages but someone over at the Escapist said it perfectly: Imagine the epic and memorable line from Lord of the Rings where Gandalf shouts "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" to the demon. Now imagine that it was originally in some other language and is translated into English as "You're not getting by me!". That just doesn't work the same, does it?

I love the idea. So many RTS games these days are just gimmikie or overly complicated. I still play the original C&C with my brothers over our lan because it's just simple and fun. Our favorite thing, even to this day, is to amass thousands of infantry of various types and just either torch them with fire or squash them with tanks. So long as your game includes these features my brothers and I will be all over it ;)

Starcraft is STUPIDLY overrated. It was a fun mashup of old gameplay with new themes. Blizzard makes a sequel to it using an existing engine and people go nuts like it's the second coming of Jesus or something. It's a good game but the hype of the mainstream community causes people to overlook the indie community in general and true gems like this just never get any of the word of mouth they deserve. For what it's worth, just by looking at the video I can tell I'll like this one just as much as I liked Starcraft 2. And this is coming from someone that's been a Blizzard fan since the days of original Warcraft and the first Diablo.

Can't same much just by looking at screenshots and videos. Someone else mentioned that the maps looked rather barren and I agree with that. Also, the graphics in general don't look so hot but that's certainly never ruined a game for me in the past. The actual workings of the game look like they might shine out over any problems you might have elsewhere. I absolutely love the BfME style of base building in rts games and it looks like you have LOTS of units to choose from there. The Mushroom Kingdom looks like (from the video anyway) they only have one unit type. That will be really disappointing even if you never play as them. Either way I will be watching the progress on this one eagerly.

This guy looks like he's Japanese, but the game is based on Chinese lore. There's also an Oni which is a very Japanese demon. Not complaining or nitpicking. Really I'm just wondering where this game is trying to go conceptually. I'm a martial artist myself and I must say, a game like this definately tugs at my interest. I practice Japanese styles but both my brothers do Kung Fu, so it seem pretty darn cool to me :)

I must say this one image alone has drawn me to this game. Games involving ancient forms of combat ALWAYS **** me off. Nine times out of ten you have a man or a woman wearing something that nobody has any right even calling armor. Or weapons that look like they would hurt the wielder more than their enemy. Most people can ignore a point like this in game or a movie but I've spent a large portion of my life practicing the martial arts and the workings of ancient warfare. People on the other side would argue that people like me would have our heroes marching into combat wearing giant, ugly suits of armor all in the name of realism. To them I say, look it up. I've seen REAL historic armor and weapons that look much better than some of the fantasy garbage that is out there now. Sorry for being long winded but this is something close to my heart. I will be looking forward to the release of this game. :)

So long as it's got all it's food needs and water needs I think a tree of that kinda would LOVE the indoors life. Warm all the time. No nasty mobs potentially scratching at it or blowing it up.

We have the same thing on our family server here. What's even MORE weird, is, my wife and I built some walkways and castle walls through and past the "missing" areas of the world and a few days later they seemed to pop back in. Where there were massive, rectangular holes in the world were now big hills. My poor, poor castle. O_o
