Check to see if you have the sourcesdk base 2007 under your tools section of steam. If you have that then you should be able to play NMRiH.
fun...vincent
oxymoron with a heavy emphasise on the moron.
:)
Yeah me to I had a lot of fun going back and re-texturing this model.
Well the main gamemode we have is an objective based game-mode. Thanks to the i/o system in hammer and a couple of custom tools we can make these objective differ vastly from map to map. The idea you suggest could be on part in a chain of objectives.
In other words the gamemode on the map is set by the mapper. Although at the moment we also have a survive for a period of time the reach extraction game-mode.
Wait the sdk is broken that is news to me.
Yeah I know there is a lot of inaccuracies but that is mainly due to the fact I sort of rushed it. During the developement of this model I was suffering from quite bad clinical depression and I found it very hard to keep motivation up therefore I kinda just rushed through the model. Other factors were also a limitation as I found it hard to find good reference pictures therefore it ended up being mainly based on a modernized Bulgarian AK-47. Tbh I am no way a gun nut and so never really notice accuracy issues on in-game models, even reading through your comments has completely confused me. Depending on the time-frame of the mods developement this might be re-made. Unfortunately if this is the case I don't think it would be done by me as I have a lot of work on my plate at the moment including the coding for Field Zone and modeling work for NMRiH. I do appreciate your comments and please don't see this as a bunch of excuses I just hope you won't flip out if this turns out to be the final in-game product.
I like how you question the knowledge of the development team without even bothering to do some research yourself. The mod has been around for a long time fair enough but it was canned about 1.5/2 years ago. Then about half a year later Maxx a member from the old development team restarted the whole project with pretty much a whole new team. We started completely from scratch and have been hard at work for around 1/1.5 years now.
Also you view on modding is completely wrong, we don't create mods to one up each other, we do it because we want to create the sort of games we want to play. Therefore I don't see why you would want to create conflict between two mods it is just retarded on your behalf.
Personally if you don't like the mod please feel free not to download it (when it is released). Also feel free to stop wasting out time with retarded comment when personally judging by your posts I really could care less for your opinion. Maybe if you offered some ways in which you would like to see the mod improved then I might be inclined to respect your comments.
I am going to guess that you want us to release.
More scratches you say, I was thinking about adding some duct-tap around the front grip in-order for it to seem like it has suffered the effects of time but yeah I will add some more dirt and scratches.
The tri-count is a little on the high side (floating in the high 5k mark) at the moment although it nothing that modern engine can't handle. I will do a final optimising pass when the texture is finished.
Ummm yes because every single modeller in the history of modding has legal access to their tools. Also that is how we role.
What? The last updated on mod-db was on the 9th of jan this year also on our website we have a update from the 25th of February2010
What the **** is that piece of crap. Jesus Christ the guy who made it must be mentally retarded or about 2.
1.) We aren't commenting on a release date because we would prefer to release when we feel the mod is ready.
2.)There will mostly likely not be a sword but we do have a pipe weapon already in-game.
You can check the model out here Moddb.com
We have a system where the mapper can choose to put a constant weapon spawn (the weapon will always spawn) or a random weapon spawn (a random weapon will appear). We also randomize the amount of ammo in each weapon to keep each game fresh.
In first person I don't see this being a problem as you will really never see it. But thanks for the comment.
Little spelling mistake on the front page "The developer team" should be development.
Pretty much all I need to do is model the magazine and the iron-sight/attachments.
Then I will move onto a low poly model to bake the normals onto.
Also it will be going into a source mod that I am coding at the moment. The idea is to have a system similar to Crysis where you can add attachments in real-time. So I still need to figure out what attachments to model.
Valve has always been like this. You complain how the sdk wasn't released in 1-3 weeks after left 4 dead. How long have you know valve or might I have to remind you of valve time. Developer.valvesoftware.com Also as stated a millions times before valve is a business they want to make money they might not need to but I am pretty sure they want to. Just thank god they are better than EA. Also onto the fact that they haven't given use any updates giving us the tools to create levels/models and scripts seems like a massive free give-away to me. Not many companies ever give away tools/code. Also bundle in survival mode and I think we have got a sizable chunk of free stuff from valve regarding left 4 dead. Also the fact that you want to go into the gaming industry makes me wonder even more. As a developer wouldn't you rather have the tools to create your own stuff then a bunch of campaigns thrown together in a rush to please part of the community.
Also what about the episodic campaigns for half life why don't you boycott ep3 as well. Similar premises.
Seriously you are being more ignorant that most people. Your group first says it isn't forcing it opinions onto the community but then you disregard all other opinions as being ignorant and wrong. Also this gave me a laugh "we can't open the eyes of at least a few of its more intelligent members" funny thing is that none of you (l4d 2 boycott) seem to understand what valve are doing and how the gaming industry works. A lot of your points in the article don't make a lot of sense and come from someone who seems to lack knowledge in the subject.
Seriously I would have thought a modding community of all places would under-stand that the left 4 dead team are just creating something they want to create and the promises get broken all the time. I mean I support them 100% of the way because they are just creating a game because they want to and not because they care about whether they make a ton of money or not. So feel free not to buy the game because I am pretty sure the whole left 4 dead team are laughing hard at this group and all the cheap people who think that left 4 dead was a waste or money. You guys got seriously spoilt by the orange box (which was a bargin) and really need to come down to earth and compare left 4 dead with other games from different companies and not with the orange box/tf2.
Please stop stating your opinion like it is fact. Source is one of the best and most open engines for modding. Secondly I think you take for granted all the code that source already gives you. The engine you are moving to will feel bare compared to source. I hope your friend is a great coder because to get to the standard of source he will have had to code from scratch a networking system, an entity factory, a weapon system and a gui system. Also by moving to XNA you pretty much have made all your level designers obsolete unless your friend has managed to code a vbsp rendering system into XNA as well or has made use of a similar system like the quake 3 format and radiant. If not you will have to make all the maps from scratch in-side a modeling program.
This isn't a personal attack by any means I just don't believe you understand what you are getting yourselves into. As before I wish you good luck. Also I hope your coder knows c# as well a c++ as XNA uses c# as its programming language.
"terrible engine for modding for as you need to write atleast 800 lines of code just to fix a damn bug in the code"
What the hell this is completely wrong in every way, source is a great engine for modding. First of it runs straight out the box (with some slight setting up, which is expected from such a massive engine)you also get access to all the code you need to create pretty much any type of mod you can think of.
If you struggled with source you are going to have a hell of a time coding an engine from scratch. But whatever I wish you luck anyway although I disagree with your reasoning to move away from the source engine.
