In real navies, destroyers are small, fast ships that drive circles around battleships.

(http://www.stardestroyer.net/Empire/Essays/FiveMinutes.html) detailed analysis of star trek versus star wars from technical information supplied by speculation in the movies (i.e. the death star) and technical information supplied by the books. Naturally, a Galactic Empire would be able to beat a Federation of Planets contained within one small part of one small quadrant of the galaxy.
WinRAR won't accept the file format.
I cant seem to open this file format in WinRAR. Any suggestions?
So, basically you think that PATROL CRAFT, possibly the smallest classification of craft, are larger than frigates (a LARGER classification of craft) and imperial space stations are tiny? That doesn't sound canonical. Even with possible depth perception problems with this screenshot, those PATROL CRAFT look far too big
TIEs w/ X-wings and X-wings w/ TIE solar panels are both officially known to Lucasarts as "X-TIE Uglies"
I keep getting a crash to desktop when I try to deploy the Bulwark battlecruiser, but so far, everything else works.
I dont even have any knowledge of computers that I've learned from anywhere but my own experience (i.e. teaching myself) and yet I still can think my way through using WinRAR and successfully install a zipped or .rar file. It seems that asho can download the file, but doesn't know how to put the data folder into a "mods" folder and set the .bat file in the gamedata directory. It could possibly be that he/she is already doing this, but WinRAR (or similar program) is putting it in the correct folder, but the directory has been changed (e.g. putting the data folder in the stargate folder (in the mods folder), but the computer doesn't just put the data folder there ((say, if your adding a patch)), but it makes, like 5 other folders inside the one you were trying to put it in (in that case you have to personally move the files into the right target location for the .bat file to work). I have also found, in the past, that older releases of this mod can be successfully installed by over-writing the actual EAW data file itself. This only works on version 0.7 and it is not recommended. After that, you would have to delete the mod and re-install EAW if any problems occur. (The preferred way is to put the Stargate data folder in a "stargate" folder in a "mods" folder within the gamedata folder). The .bat file is then to be placed in the gamedata folder. One should then personally look through the files to see if they were installed correctly, WITHOUT things like this happening : gamedata, mods, stargate, mods, stargate, data, stargate, mods, data. In that case, the .bat file may not work because the target location is different than the one programmed into the .bat file. It should look like: gamedata, mods, stargate, data in the end. Unzip into the mods folder in the gamedata folder.
I agree, and if you want variety in the game with projectile weaponry, some name suggestions are: mass driver, autocannon, coilgun, or railgun (of course mass drivers are actually just big coil or rail guns, and gauss cannons are just another name for coilguns). The old series in fact did have plenty of lasers, though, but the new series just has projectiles and missiles.
They're called "uglies", or "X-TIE Uglies" in the books.
You guys really should release some videos of gameplay so far or a video showing all of the units you've created.
They are alternate skins for the basic land infantry soldiers when they are fighting on an urban or woody or desert planet (german urban specialists=city planets, canadian wood specialists=planets with lots of trees, and then they have desert soldiers.
I see on your unit list you're including the original battlestar galactica, will it have a different model than the one from the new series in the game?
Agreed....but it will be worth it.
I think he means to say "deutsch"
@Mularac: Normal EAW is the only thing necessary for 0.8 and the upcoming 0.9 release. The old beta #3 is of Forces of Corruption, but there is no good reason to play that version when you could be playing 0.8.
@ming 600: Yes, 302s have the ability to directly hit the wraith hive ships in the series, but that is because wraith hive ships usually depend on tough, quickly regenerating hulls, not shields in the series.
In 0.9, will the Daedalus still have its "beam nuke" ability?
Aren't the space/atmospheric fighters featured in the New Republic/Imperial Remnant era also called V-wings?
One question: Whenever I play this mod, the text files for all of the units are "[missing]", is that just because you don't have encyclopedia references for all of your units yet?
