What are those, TIE-wings?
(TIE= Twin Ion Engine)
They're called "uglies", or "X-TIE Uglies" in the books.
There are three kinds of fighters in this pic, X-ceptors (X-wing cockpit+TIE Interceptor panels), Z-95s, and Death Seeds (TIE Cockpit+X-wing wings). There is another fighter called an X-TIE that is an X-wing cockpit with TIE fighter panels, but it isn't in this pic because when I made that fleet I decided I wanted good fighters and X-TIEs have crappy firepower .
TIEs w/ X-wings and X-wings w/ TIE solar panels are both officially known to Lucasarts as "X-TIE Uglies"
In what canon source is the TIE cockpit and X-wing wing combo referred to as an X-TIE? I used the model of the TIE cockpit+X-wing wings for the Death Seed fighter, a fighter used by the Twi'leks according to Wookieepedia. If you can find a canon source calling a TIE cockpit+X-wing wings combo an X-TIE, then I'll be sure to make some changes to Wookieepedia and my mod.
