I've been going around as a writer, but started getting drawn into Concept Art and 3D modeling. I'm currently finishing my studies as a 3D artist and will then be let loose on the world. Beware!

This is just an editor preview. I didn't bake lighting. With baked lighting there is a lot more specularity on the iron/copper parts.

Great work! I think it was a perfect model to learn from...
I always try to do the same thing, start with a difficult model and fix all the problems as I work.
I learn more that way.
I think this final Pillar is looking Great.
How about a short video with a turn-around?

Yeah, I should make a turntable for it, place it on a small piece, maybe some plants and rubble aside. Good idea, Boo!

However, I am currently making modular cable sets for the project I work on. That is truly a pain in the *** and much harder to do and make sense of than I thought.

Fixed everything (baked again, new lightmap uv's, smoothing groups). The modelis final now, the texture is about 80% done. This was an annoying mesh, but it was a perfeect learning example for me. I don't see anything I couldn't bake now.
