No I have not, weird. I am however more focused on killing stuff.

stuff dies too easily here for me. :)

I bet no one actually uses the chaos thunderhawk?
Do you ever find a use for it?

I think it would be more useful if unload actually moved it into a position and unloaded the passengers... :)

While the defense systems fired at the thunderhawk... Like the cans they are. :P

Is that even possible?

It could be possible. Being targeted by enemy is not that hard. Perhaps a well coded entrench system could work, perhaps replacing the unit after the land animation with a landed thunderhawk if necessary.

I use it all the time!

I just don't notice stuff as small like that. Also the main reason why I wouldn't use these would be because if you click and drag to select units, you select the transport instead. :\ THAT needs to be fixed than anything, beyond cosmetic small issues.

So it is a double click unit situation?

Is it the priority of building over units when selecting?

Also could an ability be to redeploy and unload troops?
Or is that too complex of an ability?

Thunderhawks are for the sacrifice to get the infantry and dreadnoughts in place. :)

Thunderhawks can be used as deepstrike from buildings to deploy squads on a targeted position, they work really nice that way. They can also be used to deploy entities (not squads) through abilities:
Youtu.be
The thunderhawk from jONES gives some nice ability options since the front ramp lowers and the bolters fire.

Okay so because the thunderhawk is a building it should be possible to use the ability and have the thunderhawk take off and disappear. :)
still vague, could the ability actually spawn another thunderhawk building and wait to deploy the troops?

You could create an ability to make it spawn, land and with a bit of OE code sit back there after landing and serve as a building capable of recruiting. Then it would only leave if destroyed or commanded so. Abilities are somewhat versatile in a way because you can spawn several things with a small delay by using child abilities. Imagine this: you could have the thunderhawk being called as an ability that consisted of the thunderhawk landing, staying there for a few seconds and spawning a bomb but after a certain delay a second thunderhawk would appear and drop a turret at that location since the enemies had already been cleaned.
Youtu.be
The video shows the inquisition thunderhawk dropping a turret but i could have created the ability to do what i referred in the example. It is mostly a matter of testing things and getting them as wished. Imagine cleaning a small area and fortifying it in just a few seconds with an ability system: "Battlebarge initiate defensive operations, mines dropoff requested at target position"

I am basing most of my babble off of the Thunderhawks in UA as I have helped work them in and the oe work wasn't that difficult through mudflaps. :)

Pretty much best idea ever we did. Just a bit buggy when selecting groups of units but it'll do.

How so man?
I remember our conversation now. :)

Would this ability be feasible?

The fact that i was ilustrating things with abilities i created doesn't mean you were supposed to work with those models it was just a way to visually show somethings that can be done. Not so related but have you ever got a thunderhawk (or other transport) stuck in mid air after supposedly dying? Cause i've had it with at least 2 transports so far in the last days.

which mod and which race?

I know the guard super heavy building can have its flyer stuck in mid air when building units. :)

The chaos thunderhawk and the IG valkyrie transport units got stucked in mid air when they "died/took off" and stayed there until the end of the game on New races.

it could be visibility at the end, but it shouldn't be as it wasn't an issue there before. :)

It may be only on my end don't know but the oddest thing is that i replicated it again and the thunderhawk lights move to disappear but the body remains behind and doesn't gets to the vanishing part of the animation, i must have something messing up the thunderhawk.

You should watch embientsound's videos. :p It may be in Russian, but I believe he found every single bug the UA mod contains, and I DO recall that this bug being stuck in mid air is one of them. However, I have not had that problem myself.

What I meant by best idea ever thing we did, is, you can pretty much jump them to any location and ambush enemies with tanks and troops. They count as units and don't get stuck like aircrafts. Are made for immediate transportations to get your squads to safety and serve a good purpose in ma campaigns. :3

Yeah I will have to look into the vid.

Id we had a screenshot of it, would you be willing to put it up on the forum or the images page to see who else had the issue?

it is splendid to hear they are so useful in campaign.

Notice those red dots on HD view? Those are the tail lights of the thunderhawk and they move and disappear correctly but the body itself seems to get stuck somewhere.
