I have Modeled and Adjusted and made tweaks for DoW before for myself, even made my own units..

But would I be considered a Full scale Dev?

Hardly not..

I just don't do it because I don't have the time and I have other hobbys that are..I suppose more important to me.

Thank you very much for the thoughts buddy. :)

I understand priorities in life, as it reduces my modding time also. :)

Over the past 12 months I have done modding in other engines that have female developers and they seemed able to participate in the communities.

I am trying to understand the difference in the communities and the development techniques for the gaming systems I engage in.

It may be the dedicated RTS with the lack of RP, which makes it no better then an FPS, entertainment/amusement wise.

I would enjoy the chance to engage in a conversation with you about what makes this less enthralling then other hobbies or areas of interest.

The book tells me it is the violence fueled systems used in the game and the lack of co-operation for a collaborative outcome.

I hope things are well there buddy. :)

From what i've seen so far most rts games still have significantly low female players and although this has changed over the years (mostly with the numbers of females increasing), it is unlikely to change to more balanced numbers in the near future.
Due to the reduced number of females in rts, most games are made with a male audience (who has never played rts games which had female characters in reduced clothing or supposedly sexy females either as playable characters or present in the cut-scenes) which actually further reduces the appeal to female players.
That said, a low player count means an even lower modder count so if there are few females playing DoW, obviously there will be even fewer modding the game. Also in the supposedly anonymous environment provided by the internet it would be possible for some female modders to pass as males if they thought they would be accepted better by a community mostly composed of males.
Either way the DoW modding community could use some woman's touch but it is unlikely to happen.

Interesting way you put it buddy. :)

Every day I find more and more areas of interest that could use a realistic female presence to correctly develop the areas of interest,... Female characters being one of them as the youth based male testosterone communities will definitely misrepresent certain ideologies of the female personas.

I see even some of my own development that fact of the male influence, and it is frustrating as I poorly represent the female personas in my work.

Would you say the Modding methodology would be an inhibitor to the amount of modders?
It could just be my perspective as I have been acculturated into a development methodology and diversifying to look for alternate easier methods causes much time to be used in failures, while trying to find other solutions.

I am also sure the age of the interactive digital media plays a role in it as well, as a lot of reference material is missing, deleted or just not there. :P

Or is it just the canon psychosis. with levels of cyber bullying or cyber harassment that leads to a less then suitable environment for development?

Why bother?
Because I am looking at ways to come up with development techniques that dont focus on the male based cognition styles and communication procedures, to allow a greater diversity in the developers in the communities.

Why not go for the fame? Meh!. fame is boring and I would prefer to do it for the game play and the enjoyment of others.

I bring it up as a discussion as someone else might have found what I haven't. :P

I can imagine some youngsters (and other not so youngsters) creating anorexic girls with implants on the front and rear (oversized female traits like in seen in many game characters or drawings made mostly by males) which would be a poor representation of real women.
Even game developers wise models created go with the current society traits and not just with female models. Taking guardsmen as an example, they were quite normal in DoW, in DoW2 they got slimmer (which considering they have armour and all is a bit problematic for their health) and in Space Marine they seem to be starving for weeks and about to collapse. This is a clear sign that in a society so concerned about overweight (and not concerned enough about underweight) making soldiers which seem to be starving is adequate (or at least developers think it is).

The reduced number of modders in my opinion comes from a certain sense of lazyness and lack of innovation which is settling on the younger and even older generations. People are getting so used to having things done for them that most end up thinking there is no point in working when someone can work for you. If you check some of the demands in the most popular mods (independently of the game in question), you will see that there are increasingly demands done by what can only be categorized as spoiled children with little common sense and less requests done with some good common sense which suggest things to be done if possible and not demand it to be done "just because i want it".

Going to the university at my age allowed me to recognize this demanding and lazy nature (everyone wants programs that do all the work but no one wants to program them for example) in an engineering degree which doesn't make sense since engineers are supposed to work hard to improve technology not do a google research and sell a concept based on creative commons or things like that.
The problem is players would only become modders if it was easy and because everything has a learning curve, they drop out before reaching the rewarding end.
(Sorry about the comment spam, aparently this had more than 2000 characters)

I get that a bit too. :P
Stupid ModDB..

It is an I want, I want, I want, society these days is it not?

What could be done to make modding easier?
I mean it doesn't get easier then FFE... :P

I also notice the anorexia nervosa issues with society and care for someone presenting with the areas of interest. :)

The media pretty much rules us and we have lil decision then to follow the medias presentations.

Remember to scroll down a bit and read Sakuras comment. :)

@Green Scorpion. One of your Points is Very Valid.

Sara Kerrigan i find is one of the most Annoying and Fan serviced Characters in Star Craft IMO. She is one reason I didn't like SC 2 very much.

sc2 sucked. :P
sc sucked. :P

I would have preferred to play/mod furcadia.... :P
Or mod ufo enemy unknown,
but what can I say, you got to bring a new game to lan nights. :P

Sakura, I really mean thank you for sharing your thoughts on this.

How would you get non sexualized females without it looking pedo?
Would it need to be a granny game? as slang as such.

Check this moddb group:
Moddb.com
although there are some clear cases which are not real female soldiers, overall it should be a good representation of how real women would appear in a military environment. It is usually on the details, notice how some have wargear just like regular male soldiers, yet use earings which reveal their feminine side. Of course most pictures are parades or demonstrations but the overall pshysical traits of a female soldier are shown in my opinion. They are not dressed to look sexy or inadequately dressed (tight clothes or reduced ones are not fit to most battlefields unless they are meant to be a distraction to enemies, which could backfire if it distracted your own men too) yet they are recognizable as females.

Yeah but that group is made for all the wrong reasons XD

Anyways..

At RT2

No It would not be a granny game so to speak.

Don't let the Feminists fool you girls really don't wan Female leads persay in movies and games ((I think Lara Croft is a lame character for instance and not even going to comment on Scar Jo' Black Widow or the Terribad movie Lucy )) That is not what most girls want..

We don't want Lucys or Lara Crofts.

Girls want more story or emotional driven games, or games that are suspenseful such as horror genre ((not so much me but alot of my female friends love them)) We want to get attached to our characters and such, we don't care if they are male or female really.

Or just something we can quickly pick up and waste time with.

My Best friend and I find it rather insulting at how they market games to girls, Such as Cooking Mama, The Sims etc.. we don't all like those kind of games.

Or make a character Like Lara Croft or Orchid from Killer Instict to rope females into the game.

For TV shows Ahsoka Tano was a major attept to try to get females into Star Wars and it was a terrible character.

I liked Star Wars because of the story and lore and EU..I didn't watch it or read about it for some female characters

Maybe it is a womans rights issue as far as human rights go.

These males developing games with their dream girls and pawning it off as the ideal personas for females.

When females rebel and design the personas in the first place, it is what i would conceive as being the change.

how to illicit females to take control and reset the species diversion from reality due to testosterone saturated males.

Interactive digital media seems to be the vogue form of media and seems to be gaining strength. So I babble about that media format and the influence of females upon the environment.

To better describe granny games. it is in reference to the dominant role in the minds of young males. The Matriarch has love and power and takes control of the minds of the youth.
It is not intended as a parraphilic diversion, but using the matriarchal role to overcome the violence fueled patriarchal roles. In the books and media it tells me there is no sexualization of Granny or the matriarchal roles. it seems to be that way in real life as well, with a lot of power in the matriarchal role.

Of course I am just one ****-sapien in over 7 Billion so I could be so far askew from reality that I could be delusional. :P
Just because I dont share their shared psychotic disorder. :P

I am trying to get back to the genesis not the media saturation. :)

How to empower young females. or females in general.
I know I was able to do it in furcadia over a decade ago.

I was able to do it in the last 12 months in other engines.

But at this point in time with the development media platform... Where am I going wrong. :(

Maybe its my dementia. :P

So it is in my somatic markers from my youth with none of the females around me in my youth having body types like that.

I understand this has been an affluent country for a long time and food is not impossible to come by, with a saturation of high calorie food.

I cannot think of a single female adult with small cup sizes from my childhood... and an arrogance in dressing with accentuation on attractiveness as categorized by the era.

This would explain the last 20 years chasing down parraphilic disorders as such... In a subtle way.

None of the females in the Page remind me of any women through my youth..... Is that an era based off of media saturation, making me nothing more then the spawn of the spawn of media saturation...

it is actually a lot more complex then that, but that would be some attributable factors which influence my personal development. And I am 40, so my youth was a long time ago. :P

Remember man, female soldiers would need to keep fit so although there are differences (if you check through the galery you will see how different are female soldiers depending on the region of the world), the body type is similar:
medium to elevated height (although small soldiers appear and are valuable for acrobatic/stealth operations);
reasonably well built bodies (strong upperbody is common) varying from slim fit bodies (not too slim though) to large shapped bodies based on high amounts of large sized muscle;

Like male soldiers, female soldiers physical traits would depend on their function. An artillery soldier would have a larger body with strong upper body since the artillery piece and shells are still heavy even though the size and weight have been reduced over the years. A sniper would likely be fit so it could run quickly between firing positions and could hide better in the terrain and so on. No one can categorize women in just a few categories and so diversity would be the key.

Also RT2 i am 62 so my youth was even longer ago. Still studying with young people has its advantages although i study mostly with males so there isn't much time to check on young women you know :P

@Sakura: even though the group was made due to a desire based on primitive traits of males it is still a good colection of visual support on the subject regardless of the reasons to why it was colected in the first place.

as side note :

DarknessWithin is really looking for female models, just for the public recoord and to add some salt to this already spiced discussion, our sotry focus on relationship between characters and we are happy and proud to tell you that we have 3 major characters, 2 are females :

+ female inquisitor from Adeptus Sororitas mod
+ female Canonness from Adeptus Sororitas mod

secondary characters :

+ female deathwatch cultist from IDH mod
+ female Callidus assassin from AS mod
+ female noble woman (model : custom dev by RT2 )

and believe me we are really smashing sexist stereotypes to bits !!

please ladies if anyone got modelling skills or modding skills or if you guys know of female modders and modellers tell them that we are just ready to be their champion and fight the SexistHeresy to the death
just create models and we will give them a torch to repell the darkness and obscurantism :)

Yeah buddy that is good to see. :)

I am thinking with complete Blender tutorials which has been proven to work models out with mudflaps. That the risk aversion of using Legit software will tempt more females developers.
As I seem to be thinking it is the risk taking testosterone driven, illegal versions of Max that is stopping females from developing.

I know I use what could be persona stereotypes in this statement, but I have to look at what could be causing the inhibition of the female developers.

I better wake up before I type any more. :P

Description

I am surprised, not.

I seem to see a lack of female developers for Dawn of War.

No surprise given the sexist nature of the GW, and also the brutal and slightly anti-social activities of the communities around this theme.

Could it also be the Prehistoric nature of the development environment.

What would make the development environment more acceptable towards the female members of the specia.

Is it the sheer need to plagiarize?
Is it the cost of the hobby?
Is it something horribly wrong with the communities of the gaming?
Is it just the psychological wellness of the entire theme?

The genesis of this flaw in the development environment is an area of interest that needs to be understood before it can be rectified.

So many questions.

And it is obvious that the game is lacking because of it.
As a few fellows have found out.
