"Who I am is not of any importance to you...."
Too all you dumbasses who still think this is dead. It's not at all, and recently the devs have started talking again. The reason it's been "gone" for so long is because they wanted the hype to die out. It caused them to rush quite a bit of **** they had been working on and they realized it's never good to rush something out. The past couple years they've been spending time making the game better and better, which is why you still see many of the devs still working on SDK. Just because they don't use ModDB anymore, does not mean this mod is dead.
If the top left portrait is Miranda Keyes, it needs some work. Besides that the rest of the portraits look great.
It would be nice if the Geth models weren't just Halo Elite models. Sorta kills it for me.
He is using this for his mod. I doubt you will be able to get your hands on this until he finishes it. Something tells me you would use this map for something other then playing on it...
Oh gawd, whut..
Better than anything I could make.
I've said this hundreds of times already. It's against the EULA to port models without permission, aka it's illegal. He may have not been the one to port these models, but using them is just as bad. He already stated he is willing to make his own models so their isn't really anything left to say. Please just drop this argument already.
Just because you can't afford it, doesn't mean you can steal the Kotor models. Whether or not you actually made the models also doesn't matter. Obviously you fail to see that porting is bad, and is against the EULA. Please just listen, I'm trying to help you.
Uhmm, ok... Are you trying to say the model is yours because you put it in 3DS Max? You may have put the model in JKA, but you didn't actually make it.
Exactly right. I'm just trying to help Garyn not get in any trouble from using the models/sounds. A major example of something similar to this would be KoTF. Everyone hates KoTF because the guy who made it stole pretty much everything in the mod from someone else. If he hadn't done that, the mod might have been seen as great. We wouldn't want another KoTF to happen so please just listen to us.
Yes it is different. Obviously bringing the music from the CD is of course legal as long as you bought the CD's and put the appropriate copyright information. For ported models though, you can't just say I bought the game that had those models and put some copyright information in the readme. Porting them would be against the EULA (End-User License Agreement). Just look that up if you have to, but it is illegal.
Either way, you are using someone else's models and sounds. Pretty much stealing it from Kotor and sticking it in JKA. That doesn't sound good, now does it?
I don't really care whether your mod is a total conversion or not, I rather see you stop using those ported models. I believe that's the main reason Mv.c9 and I had that discussion.
"But now I am in the shoes of a Player, I don't want to play a Mod with crappy models, I want something that looks decent, I dont care where he gets it, as long as he is acknowledges it (and wont claim it as his own) I think is ok."
So you think it's alright to port the models just because it looks nicer than what he could actually make? Also I would say, "WTH is this $h!t?". seeing as how the models don't actually grip the sabers.
"Modding Both KOTR and JKA is Legal, you can check that up in Raven Software Homepage and their user agreement, the big wall of text we all skip when installing the game" it mentions that is Illegal ONLY IF YOU USE THE MODELS FOR COMMERCIAL USE, LIKE MAKING A GAME. as far as I understood, if you are making a free game, then it should also be ok."
Yes modding both those games are of course, legal. But taking one part of Kotor and bringing it to JKA for a mod is illegal.
"I dont want to be rude, actually as i said i prefer people custom making their models, I do that and I expect others to do so. But that will extend development time to be 3 or 4 years instead of 10 months. I agree with you, its GOOD to custom build models for MODS but its not necessary. btw that will apply if this mod ws a total conversion, but its not, its just a basic reskining and retexturing mod, with some extended features that allows this to be a mod rather than an Addon. like some Maps and new sounds."
I would rather have it so all the hours I wasted making a big mod were wasted on something I actually made. Also judging from that description, this won't be a "small" mod anymore.
Stop using the ported models. It's illegal if you release them and obviously you are planning on doing so. I said this before, why can't we all make our own models and have a perfect modding world?
Are we going to be seeing some hands holding the guns? Would be nice instead of a floating gun.
Actually porting the models I believe is legal, but distributing it isn't. Not sure if that is 100% right though.
Anyone know if the game has a Single Player mode. Not like an entire storyline, but you can play the MMO part minus the MMO people. I heard about this feature but haven't seen a source though.
Also Edd23 is right, your "lot of skin" wasn't even made by you. Either way though, you still wouldn't be able to use them since they're ported. Why can't people just make their own models and we could have a perfect modding world. :|
Ported Models :X
EDIT: This whole mod uses ported models as well...
Any updates? Sorry to sound like an ***, but I don't want to see this mod die. :|
Hope this mod doesn't steal anything...
Gordon Freeman lost his glasses, eh?
April fools was last month, guys...
Hey Napster, you think you can make the rest of the models from L4D for Max Payne 2? That would really make this mod much more awesome then it already is.
Holy ****! Please make the rest of the guys! Bill, Zoey, Francis. That would be 1337!
I hope you do stop, you *******
Democan, you ******* fail. Your mod once had a chance, but you had to just start stealing again. I would like to hope you actually learned something from all of this, but I'm sure you didn't.
