S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Lost Alpha

Mod review

People have always said there is no such thing as a 10/10 game, because that would imply that a game is perfect. While Lost Alpha is not a perfect game, after years of community demand, development, testing, and patching - Lost Alpha has become to quintessential S.T.A.L.K.E.R. experience bar none.

I recently downloaded and played the Director's Cut for the first time, unsure of what to expect after playing the base version of the game a few times. What I got was a perfectly entrancing version of The Zone that I easily found myself completely absorbed in for the next few days. After playing Shadow of Chernobyl as well as dozens of mods throughout the years, (since its original 2007 release) I can easily say Lost Alpha is the culmination of exactly what I wanted from the original game.

Is Lost Alpha buggy? Yes. Are the weapons, economy, difficulty and other aspects of the game perfectly balanced? No. Were there parts of the game that could be better? Yes. But despite these things, I could overlook it all due to the simple fact that there is so much attention to detail and it's very obvious that this was a labor of love for Dezowave - and I could feel it every step I took throughout my journey, and I knew that no matter how it ended, the journey would be something I wouldn't forget.

So that's what makes Lost Alpha a 10/10 game for me. By the time I had beaten it and gotten the appropriate ending based on my actions throughout the game I knew that this would be one of those games that I would have to revisit at least once a year - probably for the rest of my life. I can't thank the team enough for the experience and hope that they see continued success with their future efforts, because what we have here is a quality effort, and it's much appreciated.
