Mass Effect 3

Game review

The last chapter in the great and epic trilogy of Mass Effect. But does it really live up to the massive scale it has promised?

Answer: Hell Yeah!

ME3 delivers so much. Story is superb and the characters are still amazingly well made. It's much about returning characters and things you have done in the other games. Therefor you should definitely play the other two games first.

Gameplay is better than ever, with a bigger focus on grenades and melee. Both works fine, but it doesn't mean you have to use them. You can still just shoot everything in your path, when fighting.

Soundtrack is, as the other games, superb and very well made. It totally fits. Graphics is better than ever, but face-expressions doesn't always behave the way they should. Nonetheless graphics are really well done.

BUT, Mass Effect 3 is so epic all the way up to the last 10 minutes. Yep the Ending. Now, I wouldn't say it's bad... I just say it's wrong. I can't really explain, but if Bioware leaves the ending where it is, then it's a bad endinng. But... if we are going to see more, then ME3's ending could be the best ending I have ever seen - including movie-endings. I also have another problem. In ME3 you get War Assets, that determines the outcome of the game (kind of), but when the Great Battle begins... we don't see much of the war assets. Only the numbers counts it seems. You're going through the whole game, uniting the galaxy, only to see that the numbers count and that you won't see much of them in action.

Still, ME3 is absolutely GREAT. Well GREAT 95% through the game and confusing in the last 5%, but if Bioware does more to the series with that ending (I'm talking about something specifically), then they have pulled of a fine ending for that "trilogy". Play It!

Story: 10/10 (if the ending is pulled off right)
Gameplay: 9/10 (still some minor problems)
Graphics: 9/10 (facial expressions lack sometimes)
Durability: 10/10 (if ending is pulled off right)
Soundtrack: 10/10 (Grand n' Epic)

Portal 2

Game review

Portal 2 is just fantastic. If you thought robots couldn't be charming, then try Portal and I would like to hear your opinion afterwards.

Portal 2 does so many things right. It's gameplay has been enhanced and it's funnier than the first game. The story itself is really good and it's not just test chambers. Prepare to go to the lowest quarters of Aperture! It's amazing. The voice-acting is terrific, graphics are definitely well though nothing extraordinary, the soundtrack is cool and I like all the small sounds you'll hear from time to time. You can also go back and play it from time to time, but it'll never be the same. Remember that. You have solved the puzzles once, so it's more for the story that you want to go back.

Co-op is really good too actually. I played it through with my friend and it is really hard, but it's damn rewarding! I also love all the small easter eggs.

Overall: One of the best games ever. It does everything right and I can't wait to see more from Valve

Lord of the Rings: Conquest

Game review

Lord of the Rings: Conquest.

I bought this game because, I just wanted a "Star Wars: Battlefront 2" like game, set in MIddle-Earth.
Well here it is... is good?

No, but it's fun. Let me explain.

If you're looking for a well made game, with good combat, balanced classes, good dialog, well made story, good graphics and good AI.
Then don't buy.

If you're looking for a game you can laugh at because of: bad AI, bad dialog, unbalanced classes and Frodo, who is a killer....... then buy.

You will find all the locations, where the big battles took place.
You'll find characters of Middle-Earth.

Good things: Soundtrack, the feeling that you actually Are in a big battle...

Buy it if you want a good laugh, because of all the bad things. Then you can easily buy it cheap somewhere.

Battlefield 3

Game review

I was really hyped over battlefield 3, when it was announced. The first trailer, to the Beta and to when the game was released. But was it worth the wait?

BF 3 is mainly multiplayer, but as we have seen in Bad Company, Dice offers a singleplayer part too. The singeplayer takes at different places and you will play as different characters throughout the levels. Mainly you are an American soldier, who follows orders and shoots terrorists. The story itself doesn't really captures me though. We have seen it before, but what Bad Company had that kept the story going, was great characters and sadly you'll not find them here.

The game also offers co-op, in which you can play with a friend online and battle through the levels. It's really fun and definitely something you Must try.

But the reason you must buy this game, is because of multiplayer.
It's fantastic. A really well made multiplayer, set in various locations. The weapons are good, classes well sorted, level designs are remarkable and so on. One of the major flaws in multiplayer, is that there aren't as much to destroy as there were in the Bad Company games. That's really sad, because it's one of the more epic things in BF games.

Graphic wise BF 3 nails it all the way. It's incredibly beautiful.
The sound as well. War has never felt so realistic.

Overall: BF 3 is one of the best shooters ever. Singeplayer is fun, but with a bad story. Co-op is fun and well made. Multiplayer is the reason you should buy BF 3.

Dragon Age II

Game review

Many people say that Dragon Age 2 sucks!
Let me make this clear. It doesn't suck, but there are changes that some fans doesn't like. For me personally, this is really good sequel to a masterpiece.

The story is really entertaining and characters feels alive and good. Just like the other Bioware games.
The combat-system is a huge step-up for me. It's less tactical, but overall better. I can now set the difficulty up, without having to use poisons and stuff. The animations are also better.

What I don't like is that Bioware has reused a lot of locations overall again and again. Let me say it like this: Have visited one dungeon, then you have visited a lot of the other dungeons too. You'll not get to see many other locations than Kirkwall and the area around, but Kirkwall is a beauty so don't worry too much.

Another thing I don't like is that you can't chit-chat that much with your companions. I loved to do that in Dragon Age: Origins, but it's not like that here. Only brief conversations, when there is something important.

The dialogue system is more like Mass Effect, with this wheel you're using. Personally I like that and I don't want them to change that, when Dragon Age 3 will arrive.

The game has a nice soundtrack and there aren't anything really bad about that. The graphics looks good, buuut it can be better.

The game has a good length. Not as long as the previous one, but it took me about 40-50 hours to complete on my first playthrough.

Overall: This is a really solid game, with some small flaws. It's different from Dragon Age: Origins, but not too much.
Once again Bioware has nailed it with: good story, nice characters and a better combat-system. I recommend this!

Mass Effect 2

Game review

After I played Dragon Age: Origins, I was very happy that a company like Bioware existed. So I checked out one of their other games called Mass Effect 2. Instead of the usual dragons I was heading out to hunt down aliens!

And what a fantastic experience. I can easily say, that this is the best sci-fi game I have ever played. It's also one of the best games I have played! Now that means it does something right ey?

The story is superb and really gets you, weapons and gameplay system works really well, but the best thing is the characters.
I love them! The dialog is amazing and Bioware have done it again. Like in Dragon Age, these characters are so amazing.

Graphics is good and soundtrack is amazing too. Nothing to complain about there.

Overall the game is worth to buy. I started out on Mass Effect 2 I was a little confused storywise at some points. Start out with Mass Effect 1 if you can, but please... get your hands on Mass Effect 2! You won't regret it!

Left 4 Dead 2

Game review

The most fun I have ever had with a game.
Teamwork is in order and I like that. Especially playing with a friend. You must play this with a friend!!

Story is entertaining, but there really isn't much story... but that doesn't matter.
Good combat system. Works perfect.
The personalities of the gang is perfect. I love them all (except Rochelle! but that's in a good way....).

The game looks good, but it can be a bit better. Soundtrack is nice and fits perfect.

This is just the funniest co-op game... ever!

Story: 10/10
(There really isn't a story, but how the campaigns are tied together works just fine and the characters are so well made!)

Graphics: 7/10

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Game review

Amazing... the overall exploration part is clearly the best part!

BUT. AI can be clumsy, combat-system ain't suited for wars. There aren't really any wars...
Characters doesn't feel alive.

The story is good, but sometimes I just don't really care for what happens. characters are somewhat fine, but it's the same as the story. The world of Skyrim though... is amazing... fantastic. I love it! It's huge as well!
Traveling on a horse through the huge world of Skyrim, discovering everything, is one of the best gaming experiences I have ever had. The game is really beautiful and the soundtrack is superb.

Therefore a 9 is suited for this.

Story: 7/10
Gameplay: 10/10 (combat system is good, until wars. It deserves a 10 because of the traveling part!)
Graphics: 9/10
Durability: 10/10
Soundtrack: 10/10

Bilians L4D2 Sound & Music Replacement Mod v1.0

Mod review

A really good sound mod, with a lot of different sounds for Left 4 Dead 2. This gives the user a whole new experience because of a massive load of sounds.

If you don't want the weapon-sounds, but want to keep the others, then you can just disable those sounds in the add-ons menu and keep the rest - thumbs up for that!

One of the only problems I have, is that it quickly becomes repitetive - just like the original sounds. It's still sounds better, but you'll get used to it pretty fast and then they just feel like the normal sounds.

Overall: A fantastic sound-mod with a lot of really cool sounds. It has a fine system in add-ons menu, so that you can easily keep this and disable that. The only problem is that it feels like normal sounds pretty fast and then you won't notice it that much.
Still, I'll defiantly recommend this!
