As for the giant "!" Diamonds and the people with nothing but eyeballs and mouths... maybe I made a mistake in installing the mod, but I don't think those meshes are actually included in the downloads.

I think I know one reason why textures might not be showing up for some people. I investigated a bunch of the models using Nifskope, and I noticed that the path for their textures is set to "c:\program files\bethesda softworks\oblivion\data\textures\" etc. Problem with that is, some people (including myself) don't install Oblivion under Program Files, which means that the paths are set for nonexistant folders in those people's cases. So the path should start from "textures", and exlude everything before.
For example:
The airship model's texture path is-
"c:\program files\bethesda softworks\oblivion\data\ textures\dwemertechnology\airship\airship01.dds"
But, in order for it to work properly for people who don't install Oblivion in program files, it simply needs to be-
"textures\dwemertechnology\airship\airship01.dds"
Heheh, rats, Mathinator is wise to our schemes. XD
I also went walking through mirkwood... took bloody forever. :)
I can't give an exact measure, but I once ran from one end of Cyrodiil to the other in a couple of ingame hours (my character's speed was maxed out). With the same character, I ran from the shire to mordor in the MERP beta, which took me a couple of ingame days or so. But again, my character's speed was maxed out, so it will likely take a lot longer for new characters in the game, not to mention all the enemies/obstacles you'll likely encounter along the way.
The weapon isn't a part of MERP, that's the vanilla silver longsword. This picture is just a wip of Faramir's armor.
Why does Moddb keep putting all of the replies out of order?
Have you even bothered to look at all of our pictures? How can you honestly see those and imply that it's the same as vanilla oblivion?
Not to mention, another LOTR game will cost money... this one just costs patience.
You have 3 options. You can play as Frodo, you can create your own character and do freeplay mode (basically just go around and do whatever you want), or you can do the White Council questline, which is basically an alternative main quest if you don't want to play as Frodo. I think you might be able to follow the Fellowship if you wish, since all of the events happen in chronological order, regardless of your choices.
This is only focusing on Middle Earth, but that would be interesting to see an add-on that "added on" the rest of the world.
I'm wondering about that myself.
Justb's modeling capabilities make me feel incredibly insignificant to this project. lol
@DestinyMan777: Hahaha!! Good one.
I'm actually going to update this a little, with a particular focus on improving the vambraces and the textures of the cloth (cape, skirt, etc). Even if they aren't completely accurate to the movie, I think the vambraces look hideous as they currently are, hahaha.
By the way, thanks for adding the hoods, truehighlander. I totally forgot to do that. Maybe I'll include those in my next update.
I've been playing this for a little while. Right now it's going a bit slow, but that's probably just cuz I'm level 7, so I'm sure it'll pick up eventually. :)
Anyway, just wanted to say, this mod is pretty awesome! The landscape and everything is a LOT more interesting than that of Oblivion.
However, I noticed a couple errors:
1. On the quest "Team Spirit", on the 7th quest entry (after you've rescued the girl and picked a weapon), the entry is in german:
"Ich habe mir eine waffe als Belohnung a usgesucht. Meine aufgabe ist nun erfüllt, ich kann ins sanktum zurückkehren."
I picked the bow as my reward, but I don't know if that makes a difference.
2. On the quest "Into the Forsaken Country", Kim is kind of useless. When we're attacked by people or creatures, Kim just stands there and doesn't fight back, so I have to basically fight them alone.
Just thought I'd point those out. Otherwise, I'm enjoying it pretty well so far. The scenery is breathtaking. :)
That's a good question, actually. I'm not really sure, I just based them off of pictures I found from the movie. One of the images I found had a ranger wearing a black suit with dark red on the top. I thought it looked cool, so I went ahead and made it. It's most likely the suit my character will be wearing throughout the game. lol
Oh man, I hate spiders. I seriously have like a phobia of them. It will be rather exciting to vent all of my feelings on them when the full mod comes out. >:)
I bet it's the tapenade pizza. I swear, most disgusting stuff I've ever tasted, so I'm willing to bet the Witch King will brutally slaughter anyone he sees carrying it into his domain. XD
Anyway, all I gotta say is this model is nothing short of amazing! Can't wait to see it ingame.
There's a black one AND a dark green one, as well as a brown/gray, a lighter green, and a red/black one. It's kinda hard to tell with this picture because all the screenshots I took were darker than I intended.
k, so I took a walk through mirkwood in 0.2.4... took forever, was amazing. Easy to get lost if you don't have a map, hahaha
Dead things, Mikey! There're dead things in the water!
I'd say darker and less fog, but I'm actually assuming that's just for the sake of the screenshot. Otherwise, freaking amazing! Can't wait to duke it out with some goblins, and maybe a balrog?
so awesome! only problem is it causes a lot of lag when I look at it in game, but that's my computer's fault, lol.
They're really cool, but for some reason the texture is missing for mine, so they're just this big pinkish things.
.... k, I'm trying to think of how to express my opinion of this mod, but... well, words fail me. Words like... "AMAZING", "FREAKING AWESOME", and "BEST DAMN MOD EVER" come to mind, but I'm not sure if that quite says it, lol. I've downloaded the beta and done a lot of adventuring, and I'm nothing short of impressed beyond description. I even used Midas' Summon Goblin Horde to make an army of goblins in front of the black gate, and killed them all. It was quite exhilarating >:D (although putting too many of them in seems to slow the combat-response-process). If I figure out how to work with Blender a little better, I might even consider contributing. :)
I'm assuming it's too early to tell when you guys hope to finish this?
is this in 0.2.4? how do I get there if so?
