Well this game out of nowhere. From the Lets Play it looks interesting.

I never found Sour either as I remember. He may be in one of the old spawns where main quests took you. That is up to you.
Well, in this mod most of the coordinates aren't PDA marked, that part is very unique in this mod.
And also it is very weirdly scripted, which I do not blame the devs for, cause xray is a very pain-in-the-*** type of engine, so sometimes the scripts don't work and you may need to reload a save.
Thus I suggest making hard saves time to time.
I suggest you read the dialogs, they say where you must go next, pretty sure Sid said go to the Neutral base, so do exactly that.

You probably can't go back, cause they already took it, it means you failed the mission and must reload.
It took about 2 minutes, so after you kill the army guys you must go and dismantle it not wasking even 1 second. You should finish about the same time they exit the helicopter to come and kill you.
Keep the cursor over the personal carrier and it will dismantle.
The guy in Hunters base, Kalgan or what was his name, will give you the specific mission to move on, don't worry. Pretty sure it was the next after the Moss mission or close to it.
Don't remember at which point he gave the heli expedition mission in Marshes, cause if you didn't do that, it might be after that.

There are some, Clear Sky @ Zaton offers some quests, that take you back there and then through further back. Then there are new quests that bring you from Zaton to Jupiter and Pripyat and back.
In short, yes it is worth to continue playing as there are cool new weapons to get and armor, also the artifacts have new properties, so go on, if you have free time.
Nope. Go to Marshes via the transfer from Cordon(left from the Military Outpost). Then continue the missions in Marshes and after you finish those you will be able to get to Zaton.
Start with Basic tools, they are behind the rock. Bring those back, then go for the next ones and so on.
Don't forget to start the quest by asking Cardan if he needs any tools.
