Wow, experience burnout for the first time around 35-40? Wicked.

You seem to have it all figured out and it's in the best interest of all the parties for you to get back at it and shine on :)

Hope you carry on and have fun with your change.

Good luck

Well, such is life.

Too bad it didn't work out, still best of luck in the future.
Don't feel bad, such things could happen to any investment at any given time. It's the nature of the phenomenon that is alpha funding.

Hope you find a good method to continue your passion :)

Ha! And when i was starting to belive there was no game to add to the watchlist... Good concept, brings back those sweet Cannon Fodder memories from amiga but with a spike of the modern combat-complexity added o the formula :)
After skimming through the planned features and playing the 0.4 i must say i'm happy to see where the development is going, adjusting to serve a bit further than a simple bullet-spray simulation :) More than happy to keep watching this massive by scale but humbly looking sweet project.
Keep up the great work!

Thank God you didn't deliver it pure 3d.
X-com belongs in isometric, doing the original style justice is just a matter of detail level and design integrity, style cohersion.
Naturally it's nearly impossible to surpass the first one, becouse of the deep nostalgia that glorifies the title, but also the simple artstyle motivated the imagination a lot becouse it lacked in graphics back than.

I'm quite devoid of hopes that Xenonauts will beat it's predecessor. It's impossible taking into account the emotional luggage the oldie carries, but the whole franchise suffered a lot of harm from studios that did a half-arsed job. There is still some things to be set straight and i'm hopefull about your work - hopefull that it will carry on some of the old concept into new times in a honorable way, respecting it's roots and ideals.

Good luck :)

Give me that goddamn pre-order button, becouse i want to click the it like there is no tomorrow.

Been watching the project already for some time and my stance haven't changed. The approach you take on the RTS/RPG hybrid is exactly of my sort, concept describes one of those dream games the big devs won't touch becouse "insert harsh economical reasons".

I'd go as far as saying i'm greatfull that there is a "twin-brother" gamer making my favorite games for me, but that would be a bigger compliment for me i belive.
Nevertheless, keep up the astonishing work and remember about that one lurking demand we have. The god-forbidden pre-order button.

Becouse you know... you gotta invest in the future :)

What is this i don't even...

This could happen to the orginal if the whole scenario script was rewritten by a modern 13yo.

...

And ofcourse the engine team suffered a mass heart attack.

That is nice :) I'd lie if i didn't say i was looking forward to an update.

Now, excuse me as i lunge forward with a suggestion but the "passive pelvic thrust" idle animation represents quite a threatning ammount of sillyness :) I understand its a place holder, yet still...

As per idea, maybe in free time dwarven subjects could comb their beards with their hands? Maaaaaybe just look around? I know, i'm being silly with the propositions myself, its just the lack of knowledge how could i help you improve upon thy project.

All in all, information that the video fed me is most settling, was actually getting a tad worried if you haven't dwellved soo deep into the realms of design that you forgot about little 'ol us :)

Mindless banter aside, keep up the good work and Godspeed :)

Appologies than, my assumptions were proven thankfully wrong. I will try to tame my rash judgment in face of another "lets-hope-not" scenario.

Hopefully the advice was still somewhat usefull even if poorly aimed and inpropperly applied :)

Lisek89 @ Survivors of Ragnarök - Making Things Go Boom!

Congratulations on your recent achivements. Its quite a feat indeed!

However i would like to summon a thought before the speed will become to reckless in your race to win the "competition". I know succes as being the Best Upcoming Indie is pure golden prestige but don't buy it for a price that the game will have to cover.

I understand you are trying to rally the support, snatch the votes and aquire as much followers to the just cause that your game is, but doing soo by accepting people's "wildest fantasy" down from the bottom of their imaginative cells might have a threatning effect upon shaping the game.

Someone will wish for a raptor in a jet, someone else for candy-proppeled laser cannons becouse they find it amusing. We will end up running a underground disco society of Hulk-Jesus babies, fighting monocle gorrilas in tophats.

First draft of the Request Bot was nice, becouse of the reasonable ideas of the community, angles shine upon thy souls, but throwing yourself into the wicked void that is pure fan-service is a grim fate to develop.

Thus i humbly ask, don't win the competition by giving into the crowd, feed it instead. Nourish the awaiting audience with the concept and design, share it and shape it together in boundries of the rules you apply for the good being of your craft.
Continue creating and hope that the game you are making will just unfold as the best itself, support and favour will always find a way to a masterpiece.

After all, "this too shall pass", the competition like many before it. The game though... There is but of one.

My fingers are still mangled in the same supportative gesture. Best of luck and Godspeed!

Ah! I don't know how to start with you.

The music you recently loaded up hit the sweet spot. Smells/yells/screams/shouts/reeks DF a mile away and thats a great thing!

Graphics? Remind me of Mike Mayday's graph-set for DF. You might want to hang around that style of art (as far as its not illegal towards Spelunky) becouse there is some love in it. Some love encircled with menacing spikes of adamantite!

As for suggestions towards the game... coum-plee-cay-tehd machinery.
A huge set of "puzzles" for achieving many tasks, but also simple enough to allow combined use. Like DF, to be honest... becouse some of us love to spend a day building a retardedly big spirral of nuts'n bolts that only God and us know how works, but serves a most trivial task and exists only to please our automatization desire :)

[/admiration]

Best of luck. If i ever was terribly sceptical about a game in development (as all grounchy 'ol gamers are about "sequelish" titles towards their greatest video-expiriences) this is one time i am crossing my fingers to a point when they snap.
I'm crossing them in hope that you goddamn meet success, becouse deep down in the little magma forge that is my heart I would love a game such as you are making.

I'm really and anxiously waiting for any news regarding your project.

Stop confusing the devs with sidequests from the main goal which is the beta 3. Really people, sit on your *** and wait for a GOOD and COMPLETE update.

Thats actually a good excersize for gamers nowadays, hungry for quick game sequels that are really just expansion packs... Become patient, demend quality.
