Yeah... I'm really sorry to say it but I've heard that story before.
The only time you ever seem to communicate with your fellow fan base here on Moddb is when you release some kind of update. I've never been on your Discord (wasn't aware you had one until recently) so I can't comment on your communication over there. Here on Moddb it's radio silence until your next update, which is usually about a year away. Sometimes longer.
You have neither to this day released any form of build of the mod to the public. Doesn't matter if it's riddled with bugs, unoptimized or got missing features, it still shows you have your fellow community at heart and want to hear their feedback and ideas.
You say it would have been a good idea to have released the mod already, but with the fear it would have been left abandoned soon thereafter. Well, nothing is stopping you to cease development before the mod's release either, so I honestly don't really see the problem here. Either you choose to keep developing the mod until you're happy with it, or you don't. Regardless if you already released a version or not.
Tiberium Essence earned its reputation by early releases and having the mod shaped with feedback from the community. Sure, progress of TE is slow but what is available to the public at this very moment is more than anyone could have asked for. But you guys leave pretty much everyone in the dark, with barely no information regarding the mod's progress.
Tiberium Wars was released 16 years ago. It's to the point when I've begun to see discussions and threads where people ask how to get the game running on modern systems.
I'm honestly more surprised you decided to keep developing a mod to such an old game instead of making your own RTS with a more modern engine.
If you actually manage to release Tiberian Sun Rising before its 20th year anniversary in 3 years from now then, well... congratulations to you, I suppose?
