I very much agree. On my machine (which isn't old by any means) even on all high settings Total War Warhammer looks like something from 2005 set on low.
Looks like the one on the left just got back from Texas after some sort of massacre. Possibly with some sort of saw with chains attached.

Actually I have an idea that I thought about if I ever do such a mod for Age of Empires III (which realistically I'll never do since I simply don't have the modding know-how). The way I thought it is that, in this example, Mordor could build an arrow tower, or watch tower, (or whatever you'd like to call it) on the build plot to subjugate the native peoples so, you may not get new units but you could deny the enemy from getting superior units. The same would go for say, Gondor fighting in Mordor with only Orc natives.
On maps where the natives are, say, Dwarves and you're playing as Mordor and you claim a "trading post" (or whatever you're calling them) then what will you be able to recruit? I wouldn't think Dwarves.
I've finally just played as Arnor and was very entertained to hear the words of Richard Harris' Dumbledore coming out of Cirdan's mouth! :D

Well, while I don't think I can bring in any weapons ideas (not too familiar with the Dark Eldar armoury) I must say this is spectacular and, really, looks like a complete model already. Excellent work so far!

Ahhhh, an excellent Beta (not that I had any doubts). As far as graphics glitches or small bugs like that should I just write you in a PM?
I've been getting back into playing Soulstorm and its mods, so it's really odd (though pleasantly so) that this beta just came out. I've always loved this mod in particular because it made you think about your attack plan before committing any of your troops since you couldn't just reinforce them (usually) in the heat of battle (especially if a transport or something was destroyed). Anyhow, I'll look forward to playing this.

Regarding the Games Workshop models as inspiration: now that I revisit the Mordor section for the Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game the model named "Khamûl the Easterling" looks remarkably like the model in the mod (3.8.1). At least the mask does, and I would venture to say that's where they got the former design. At any rate, I like it because it's much subtler (and evil).
I don't know, I actually like the old design a bit better.
I don't see much of a problem, but I suppose the tracery on the columns could be extended past the tops to give it a more fluid look.
