Codex

Mod review

There is literally no consistency, no real benefit of using any unit's purpose. It is all just there for the sake of being there, no personality whatsoever. Another whole different issue is the art and texture discrepancy between models, but I can sometimes look past that.

The real problem here is that it tries to be something...Codex-y. There is no real tell as to what it really means. Is it as in, all units that the TableTop counterpart strives to bring? Unit profiling with their atributes (which is nigh impossible to bring, since the computer game and Tabletop are totally different things - and whoever thinks otherwise is downright delusional)?

I think FoK did this quite a bit better than this mix and mash of a mod.

Warhammer 40,000: Enter Phoenix

Mod review

Something new and refreshing at long last.

- Episode 1 Feedback: Not a bad start; helps out the player to get into the Eldar and get them use at least 3 squads - counting the Warp Spider squad (besides the Farseer.) I feel however that the Farseer voicelines need to be just a bit louder - sometimes I could barely listen to what she says. I also spotted no voicelines, however I think it may be something random, for some users they might work.

- Episode 2 Feedback: Intro begins with no voicelines. There are some other missing voicelines during the course of the map - maybe it is me that I would have to reinstall. Real nasty surprises in the whole map the player cannot expect (and pretty well done.)

Other than that, like I said this is refreshing and deserves a 10/10!

[DC] Veteran Mod

Mod review

Gotta say that even though its just for Dark Crusade and I have gotten certain high standards that I acquired over the years (this might look like I am some sort of elitist, though) this mod has a lot of interesting features, the most notable one is the inclusion of the Renegade Guard.

There are a few 'but', however:

- Icons for new additions tend to not have any sort of consistency icon-wise. It is pretty easy to spot what is new, however, but these icons kind of make it look like they are off compared to the rest.

- Lot of units. Sometimes, less is better; that depends on the army or race though. However, being over the top adding things tends to leave any of the other squads that were part of the Vanilla roster either redundant or just not useful due either cost of range effectiveness in ranged combat.

- Certain of these units have an over abudance of abilities that is kind of tied to the second point and leaves you wonder what some of the vanilla squads or vehicles are for.

So many years and so worth it. A very nice addition to vanilla.
