Not sure, in sketchup you can apply one material to a single face and then inherit its UV properties. After that you can continue to add the same material with the bucket and it wraps the coordinates all the way around any object.
Nice stuff! You dont need really mirror modi here, only array could be useful imo. The texture is kinda wird, have you changed the texture from plane to maybe sphere?

Not yet, installed it for a sister, but didn't try myself. ;-)
How can I use that command? In the previous example, used Mirror modifier - the model here is without any modifiers applied or added onto it.
