After placing the two ingredients in the slot (in the "Intersection"), the game crashes when trying to load the next map:

FATAL ERROR: Could not load script file 'DH_maps/Chapter 01 - The Restart/11_regulations.hps

It appears this map file is in fact in another folder, "Chapter 02 - The Reboot". I tried copying all three "11_regulations" files into "Chapter 01 - The Restart", but the game still crashes, with the same error message.

I noticed a bug that is still present in the 1.7 version: In the forest hut in the beginning of the game, if you read the note on the floor again AFTER you've picked up the diary page, the game will tell you that you need to find the page before you can leave. You can't leave the hut and you obviously can't pick up the diary page again = broken game.

No worries, these kinds of issues are often almost impossible to foresee. Since players rarely know what to do, they tend to try random stuff, and do things in different ways and orders the modder can't possibly prepare for. As long as there's a way around it (like in this case), it's no biggie. Cheers!

Thanks, but I got around it now by directly editing the user_keys.cfg file. Still, this is a strange problem that I've encountered in a few other FCs as well. It's always the exact same problem with not being able to change the lean buttons to anything other than LMB from the options screen. It might be connected with the "Lean primary" entry in the file that doesn't seem to have a purpose in the game.

This FC doesn't allow me to change the keyboard configuration properly. I've encountered this in other FCs as well, but still don't know why it happens. Specifically, I can't change the "lean right" button from E to anything other than LMB, which of course I won't do, making an ESDF setup impossible. "Lean left" also can't be changed to anything other than LMB. I don't actually care about where the lean buttons go, since I rarely use them, so long as it's not E or LMB.

I understand this is a demo, but it needs a lot more work in its basics. Strip away the sound files from Call of Cthulhu and it's just another mansion mod. Most impotantly though, it's really buggy. I get lag everywhere, chairs and boxes have wonky interactivity and often disappear through the floor. After finding everything and heading towards the padlock in the cellar, a glitchy door would cover half of the doorway (the one directly below the stairs) leading towards the ladder. I could't open it and couldn't pass. I couldn't even die by jumping repeatedly from the stairs, so with no save function I just quit at that point. If the mod is this buggy it really needs a save funtion so that game-breaking glitches like this doesn't force you to start over from the beginning.

Thanks for replying! Yes, I double checked with the walkthrough and got the red "Explosive - A highly volatile mixture", but still I couldn't place it anywhere. I checked on youtube to see if I was in the wrong room or something, but everybody seems to get the bad ending. :)

However, I got it to work now, after reloading before the loading screen in the final cavern area and trying a few different ways. Sometimes I could place the explosive and sometimes not. It might be connected with the grunt spawns and despawns? After hiding from them for a while, I could not place it. I THINK they were despawned, because I could not find them anywhere.

Maybe it has something to do with player death or the grunt behind wall of skulls. It doesn't always seem to collapse or spawn the grunt, and I think the wall itself resets if the player dies?

If I made sure to pass the collapsing wall of skulls to and then head directly for the exit room, however, spawning both grunts, I could place the explosive just fine.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand the ending. I have the explosives, I found the "room with a cave-in and a ray of light" that you describe in the walkthrough, but the game absolutely refuses to let me use the explosives on the small hole or anywhere else. I get the "Cannot use this item this way" message everywhere.

I'm curious about one thing: What did pushing the rock down the hole accomplish? You get the "quest completed" script but I still don't know why I did it or what it actually did (I did it because it seemed the obvious thing to do up there).

This mod bugged out for me. The cellar door in the main hall ate the key, but would remain locked. I could not progress beyond that point.
