Why don't you work only in the steam version if this version is already set to be abandoned? I feel like it's pretty much a waste of effort to update it if once the steam release is done they will all switch to it.

im not in the team but i can see the differences...
-the hl2 hud
-the new hd model
-the fire has a new particle system
-pretty sure the skybox is changed
-the garg has a dynamic shadow
-the rock texture is hd now
-im not sure if it is bump mapping or detail texture on that lightpost, but both give a nice feel
so dont say its just a door and a garg, take a better look first
the devs dont have to change every single map to make it a good mod
