He basically saw the least impressive part of the mod. But the guy was already very negative minutes into it. If you're going into something with that attitude, well you might as well go out and do something constructive.

I've finally completed the mod... All I can say is that I liked it a lot, great mapping, lots of variety, some challenging bits, some moments I didn't know how to progress (mainly because I missed something). Some levels are huge and multi-layered, which I loved. The cut-scenes were something I had to adjust to, but I didn't hate them. Then there are the comics, which are a neat idea, just what was the point of them, seeing none of them are related to the HL world and the story of The Closure. Weapons are great and all the custom models were something different, but I took it for granted after a couple of levels. Because I was simply having too much fun. The end credits were wonderfully done, using Adagio for Strings as the music made me all emotional. Tons of work went into every part of the mod, so I don't see the need to criticize something that was put out for free. It may not be the best mod out there but I'll certainly play this one again in the future. Because The Closure has a lot of great ideas and actually did something different with the HL2 engine. And because I had fun. Cheers from Belgium.

Well this is a super-long mod, I'm only 1/3 through but I'm having loads of fun with it. Granted, this has very little to do with Ep1 or Ep2, or with the HL world in general, but I do approve of the mapping and well balanced gameplay. The environments shift from one look to another in the same map (no consistency), but that's just Leon's style so I can look past that. I don't even play this for the story, just to have old-school run and gun... well, fun. I grew up on Doom and that game was all about standalone maps and run and gun shooting, very fast-paced with zero storyline. This mod reminds me a bit of the granddaddy of first-person shooters, so that can be seen as a compliment. As for the difficulty, I chose 'less enemies' and it's just right. I remember when I played Coastline on Atmosphere on Normal difficulty and it was hard as nails, every fight with the Combine I kept getting slaughtered. The Closure is more fun and fair in that regard. Also liking the custom models. Looking forward to the second half, which I keep reading is the best part of the mod. I'll post something again when I complete it. Thanks Leon, you did alright. :)

Woohoo ! Good for you buddy ! I believe you when you didn't want to keep it in, because it would frustrate the living hell out of us. Thanks for persisting with this mod despite all that has happened. I finished Episode 2 again a couple of weeks ago. Episode 3 coming soon... :)

You know what... me neither. It's weird, I noticed it on my previous post which I meant as a reply to Leon's post.

Judging from that youtube clip, that white flash bug doesn't annoy me at all. It just give an extra indication of being hit. You could just leave it like this Leon. I'm sure not too many people would find it a irritating bug. We've seen much worse in professionally produced games.

CtoA is very long and hard as nails. Not to sound like a wimp, but I recommend setting it on easy. Brilliant mod btw.

Yeah, couldn't have said it better myself. Great post. Leon deserves our support, no cheap attacks by people who don't even know how to mod.

Oh man, truly awful this had to happen in this time of year, just as you were getting ready to release a bundle of joy to us. Take your time to grieve Leon, and please don't feel an ounce of shame for making us wait again. There's more important things right now then releasing a mod. All the best for the new year and greetings from Belgium.

Expect some very excited posts soon about how awesome this long awaited mod is to play. The gorgeous screenshots, many updates on its progress and your dedication to see it to completion are all the proof I need that it WILL be astounding.

Yes but this year, or the next?

But seriously, I hope Leon doesn't feel too awful about his promises he failed to deliver on. He definitely should not. What does he owe us lowly posters, who aren't capable of crafting such a mod together.

Whatever the case, I just love reading the comments on a daily basis. Let's keep this page alive and full of hope, until he says otherwise.

I suspect Leon is a perfectionist. He won't release it until everything works as he wants it to work. I really hope 'he goes gold' before the end of the year though. I'm going through HL2, EP1 & EP2 again, it would be sweet to end with the unofficial EP3. :)

My thoughts exactly. Valve is taking a lot longer to give us a HL sequel, and they have loads of money and talented people to make that a reality, but here's one guy, working for free, apologizing for making us wait. It's Valve that should be apologizing to us, and then hire Leon. :)

As I've said before, you have my continued thanks for sticking with this mod... putting years of your life in a game that is put out completely free is not something that everyone can (or wants to) do. And I'm extremely glad that it's coming out next month. I'm dying to give it a go, the new screens look sweet.

Is that summer in the northern or southern hemisphere? Because in Australia summer starts in december. ;)

Hehe, joking of course... I envy your perseverance to keep working on this mod for 4.5 years now. I'm extremely looking forward to it.

We should never forget this is not something one has the obligation to make for the public. It's not like Leon is getting paid to make this mod, he doesn't owe us anything. He's using his free time to make what is essentially a full length game. It's his right to delay it to make the quality as high as he can make it. Oh, and it's just one guy as far as I know. I don't like delays either, but isn't there anything else we can occupy ourselves with in the meantime? I like to think so.

Wow, it's not even out and you already played it? You're damn lucky... Send me the link please, because I want to witness for myself how much those 3 second cutscenes interrupt the gameplay flow ! In the meantime you can maybe convince the creator to start from scratch, ditch all his hard work. Perhaps he will take your comment under consideration and do that...

Sweet, take your time man! Thanks for the little updates on when we can expect it, even if it takes a little longer. Quality control is very important. Look at how many games get rushed for release, and then criticized for all the bugs and glitches. And that's the big-budget games made by professional studios.

Leon, you know what makes me come back to HL2 time and time again? Mods such as this one. Judging from the pics another high quality campaign awaits. Until Valve releases some sort of sequel, I'm happy to delve into fan-made labors of love, and this looks definitely like one. Coastline to Atmosphere is fantastic, looking very much forward to this come early 2015. Greets from Belgium.

Having played HL multiple times, I'm still surprised by some sections / puzzles while playing Black Mesa. Taking my sweet time with this mod just to take in all the wonderful detail and exemplary mapping. 8 years in the making and now it's here, I still can't believe it! Even if they don't release Xen, this will remain the best HL2 mod for a long time I'm sure. Well done BM team, you rock!

I have the same problem with the washed out colours, not annoying but very noticeable. There's also an instance when I'm at the top of the lighthouse I can clearly see the edges of the map. I tried to disable HDR and it was a bit better but I could still see the edges when I turned around. Otherwise a very high quality mod with superb gameplay and mapping.

Looking forward to the new episode + the overhaul of 1 and 2. The original mod already was a mapping masterpiece, good to see you're making such good progress. Keep it up.

I just stumbled upon this brilliant mod, an exceptional combination of intricate level design and way too clever puzzles, a couple of them which kept me occupied for minutes if not longer. The whole Mr. Whirly level was the icing on the cake, and I loved the short epilogue, which begs for a sequel.

As everyone has stated already... if there's ever a sequel I'd play it in an instant. This is hands down one of the best mods ever for HL2, I haven't seen this level of inventiveness and awesomeness since Minerva.

This is a MUST-download !!!
