As i play, I'm noticing that what irks me about DOW is 40k really doesn't fit rts -

the campaign is excellent except that the story batlles, each races assault, as soon as i stabilize that first wave, i can effectivley build infinitely and never lose. a little disappoionting.
now if my honor guard or other accomplishments thus far determined what i could use ...

isn't that the point of a campaign?

so i was thinking -
perhaps for my own scenarios at least:

does anyone know how to:

make the squad cap use for ALL units not just CURRENT units (i.e., deaths count)
not only would this avoid endless games
but factions like Chaos and Necrons that are supposee to be frightening BECAUSE they can draw on effectively unlimited reinforcements (in the case of the necrons, i mean in that scenario)- should not share that ability with EVERYONE - which they currently do.

secondly,
is there a way to make strategic points give a 1-TIME bonus to requisition?

i also wish that campaigns kept research -like the old homeworld game- persistent

or perhaps made it a reward for missions -
but that is a whole 'nother ball of wax.

answers, anyone? at least where-to-get-starteds?

Interesting - but a little overwhelming.

I have some minor fixes i want to enact, wouldn't call it a mod, but for example i noticed one of the mods lets you make all 4 scouts in a team snipers -good one - little things like that - any suggestions on how/where to start?

i skipped on dow for a year+ b/c making WH40k an RTS

-at least they tried to represent "building" as requsitioning-
really skeeved me.

came back to it recently b/c i loved old tabletop 40k
then the graphics got me

Then i almost layed it down when i watched an ork chop down a marine!

so i have to agree. i Suspect that was to give each race a "specialty", but the whole point of the marines was, as you said,
they are the UberWarriors- marines templar i guess? :)

so that was a litttle much for me. nothing wrong with having them be more expensive...

So: thanks for your thoughts.

ps...
i was wondering about a kind of batllemode like the amreican conquest/cossacks game series where
you don't try aoe-style to slam tactical and strategic into 1 level (thanks total war :)

in the Dc campaign you have that mountain/mines batlle where you can't reinforce? sounds like a plan

maybe if we can make nice they'll make dawn of war's next expansion
i'd like to play the original wh40k scenario: the farmstaed where the marines face off with an orky patrol

last but not least:

why is the WAAAGH banner not the ork listening post?
force 'em to take strategioc points to "spread their horde".

and speaking of orks - is it me or do they sound like british skinz? Oi?

pardon me, i got lost of the WH40k mythos a long time ago, tho never quit loving the game..

was it ever established whether tyrannids were responsible for the genestealers,
or are tyrranids strictly non-warp?

there was always a bit of confusion in my mind as to what was "demonic" chaos warp cthulhu great old one scariness and what wasn't ..
or was it?

All bs aside, i WAS sadly disappointed that the tyrannids or at least genestealers weren't in DOW.
glad thats been corrected.

Looking forward to the release

I always thought the battlefield psychology was one of Wh40K's strongpoints...

orks aren't fearless, they are aggressive...
and love a fight when they are winning
ain't no fun when the rabbit got the gun - right?

Space mraines are high-morale units , yes - religious fanatics (knights templar)

that just means they have pointlessly high morale, not invalidates the idea of morale.

historically, most battles are decided by morale...

Anyay, maybe someone can explain to me why a squad commanded by a force commander can still have a sergeant -

WHO RALLIES MY FORCE COMMANDER!!! ?

I actuaaly thought it was eerily appropraite, and since GDW IS from England, one had to wonder...

"skinz" - skinheads (which, btw: comes from the rudeboy movement, from JAMAICA!) -
it was a little odd to me to hear them talking like that, but yeah, i've come to like it myself - as i said with the graphics, they in general did an amazing job with the game atmosphere...

later i found out Relic was part of this and wasn't surprised...

so by the way, does anyone know how i might go about fixing my Waagh-banner-post theory?
seems as good a place as any for my first project.
