Other than some broken English and a few really minor bugs Silent Escape was a pleasure to play. Levels were well designed for the most part. Although there wasn't much custom assets the levels were well decorated and full of detail. The scripted events were also creative.
There were a few disappointments with the mod. The enemy placement was very predictable. You are almost guaranteed that if you open a door there's going to be a Combine directly behind it. Other than a few scripted events the Combine were rarely on the offensive and mostly just standing in place waiting for you to show up and murder them. The another flaw with Silent Escape was the abrupt ending. Instead of some kind of huge battle it was just a linear shooting gallery.
Should have been called Head-bob the game. Not too much indication of where to go or what to do. When there is text telling you what's going on your getting attacked but endless swarms of antlions so you can't really read it.
It's rare that I rate a mod 10 but this one deserves it. Great design and execution. I was however very surprised by the comedic ending. It felt somewhat out of place and inconclusive.
Still, by far one of the best (if not the best) non-total conversion mod for the Half-Life 2 series.
Totally glichy. Extremely clunky movement and gameplay. Poor lighting and bad art assets.
The idea and world of the mod is great. I really enjoy the bizarre 2.5D Monty Python style cut-scenes. I would have given Water a 10 if it weren't for the awkward user interface and really bad character models.
