What is UDK?

UnrealTechnology wrote:UDK is Unreal Engine 3 – the complete professional development framework. All the tools you need to create great games, advanced visualizations and detailed 3D simulations. The best tools in the industry are in your hands.

Who is it for?

UnrealTechnology wrote:Anyone. Everyone. You. Unreal Engine 3 has been used by game developers, researchers, television studios, machinima directors, artists and students. If you have an idea that needs to be brought to life in a game engine, UDK is for you.

Why UDK?

UnrealTechnology wrote:Only UDK has the power, flexibility and track record of Unreal Engine 3. These tools have been proven with countless releases and dozens of awards. There is no better way to make awesome games than with UE3.

Our game, Grand Heist (http://www.moddb.com/games/grand-heist), was originally going to be a crysis mod, but so far we are happy with the switch over to the UDK.

And I hate how people complain about their licensing terms.. I mean come on.. How would you like not being able to develop on the engine at all?

I started off on the Source Engine, but was dissapointed with how everything looked and how hard everything was to do, I have found this engine allot easyer and more powerfull then what I previosly used.

I agree with what you say bout the licencing, the engine used to cost a few million before it was released like this and we should be more greatful.

Hi mates! i'm currently searching for an UDK programmer to test out some things.

We're a Crysis modding group, but due to the free release of the UDK we're thinking about switching to UDK and develop our racing game there.

If anyone is interested, please pm me!

Its not a mod if its not a modification of an existing game. you're making a standalone game.
