In Kiel, northern Germany, police and army have seized from an 78 year old pensioner's house the following items: A Panther Ausf. D, 88-mm Flakgeschütz 18 AKA Flak-18 , a torpedo and some rifles and machineguns.
The mayor, Alexander Orth is not surprised by the find: "He was chugging around in that thing during the snow catastrophe in 1978".
Oh, yeah. Found this originally on the Wargame forums. By the way, the owner was actually born in 1937 so a teenager during the WWII.
Not to be picky about your post but teenager means someone who is thirteen to nineteen years old =) He was 8 years old when the was over and 5 years away from his teenager status =)
Well, to be precise, the Panther was used for testing purposes in Britain, and the guy bought it back from there without the weapons and in rusting condition, and has been restoring it since. So props to him for that, I guess.
It had no tracks so they ruined the road. It was also demilitarised (castrated of all military functions) so why they made such a drama I dunno.
