I always thought sports was overrated in this country. I don't hate on the athletes only, I also hate on their coaches, the sports media, and on the ******** who take it so seriously. I swear the only long debates I hear between my piers is about sport teams, nothing about philosophy, ethics or current events. I for one think we need to change the priorities of our culture and encourage people to get ******* real jobs, not become a celebrity or athlete.
I can relate. Fortunately, I have a few friends who like to discuss politics, morality, the universe, etc. so I can shelter myself from the unending river of meaningless idiocy. Nonetheless, immensely depressing to see people passionately discussing or debating something so irrelevant when all the relevant issues are completely ignored.
