So Christians shouldn't take The Bible literally at all? Then we'd be atheists...

We've already got archaeological proof supporting many events in The Bible. We've got evidence which agrees with many of the events in The Bible such as wars and constructions. Meanwhile we've got other evidence which references and records the names of some kings and prophets from The Bible.

They've even found Sodom and Gomorrah and the melted rock within the area suggests that some type of fiery cataclysm did occur.

What else do you expect though? Do you expect to find some giant signature written by God at the bottom of the sea? Do you expect to find a crashed alien ship whose contents contain a camera which recorded all the events which God caused?

There can never be complete evidence for the supernatural events in The Bible but we have evidence that many of the events occurred and that many of the people existed. I mean Sodom and Gomorrah's melted cliffs and rocks agree with The Bible's account of their destruction but one could say that it still doesn't prove God and they would be right. Who is to say God caused the destruction and that it wasn't simply a natural disaster and nature's fault so to speak?

However when we've got many Biblical events being proved true to the letter then that does support The Bible as a historical and literally correct source.

to answer Adenn`Verda :
to put it simple as a coptic christian i beleive in one thing bible is neither all historic nor all symbolic , what does this mean ?
it means it has both like when god or jesus did this or that then it has happen for real
but some parts are symbolic and they are obvious like jesus's examples that he said they arent real but he want to teach us something or two from each of them and as in david's psalms there are some prophets about jesus's birth and the cross that if taken literally that means they happened to king david but that isnt true !! also as in the book of Revelation when it says that who will be in heaven are 12000 people !! so is that true then where all thes bellions of people are going ? again it is symbolic because it means 12 x 1000 where "12" resembles the 12 Tribes of israel which resemble god's nation by this time so now it means all people who believe in god and "1000" is known to resemble the unlimited number in bible so it means all people in all ages of the earth stuff like which are symbolic but not all the bible

bs. excuse my weak english after all im egyptian not american XD

This is true too. The symbolic stuff is obvious. The Psalms are symbolic, some parables of Jesus are symbolic, Song of Songs is symbolic, Job is symbolic.

Job is not symbolic. That literally happened.

Well, I personally don't see how you can be a Christian without taking the Bible literally. So, there's a bit of a flaw in your logic right there friend.

talk to the pope and all the christians in my country mate. (I'm not gonna even bother to reply to the above cause I don't care for it)

So you actually believe that in some point in history there was a flood that killed everyone on the earth exept a guy in a big boat with all animal species in it. (Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I'm reffering to the old testament no the new one.)

This. You've also proven that God has blessed you Revan9567 because you foresaw Adenn'Verda's comment and posted a reply to it two days before he even posted it here. You prove the validity of The Bible because God has granted you the power to see into the future as a result of your faith.

Well it's either that or some glitch happened in the system but I like my first theory better. Probably not true but it's funny just like atheism.

Description

Is symbolic. By this I mean that things written in it aren't real things that happend. This bothers me alot. I used to be christian and I understand this. I have been in a christian school for 16 years and I used to use this against my teachers. But they would say that its symbolic. Which I admit.

"god flooded the earth" can't be used as a way to say that god is evil. Cause it never happend. The point of it is that if your good then god repays you (personally what I see is that god is an extremist)
This is to clear that up cause some really christian people here (knightofecclesia) seems to believe its true. And just about all atheists believe its true also. Well like always i'm starting to ramble so I'll shut up :P

PS: I'm athesit, if you wish to delete this image then fine by me. I have posted the same image in the atheist group. This is not meant to create a new rage war or nothing (as you see I haven't mentioned in any moment that god does or doesn't exsist) its just to clear that up cause it drives me crazy to see atheists and christians take the bible literally.
