Being a Christian, is about letting your heart emulate.
More so than just knowing and reciting scriptures.

Don't think the Devil himself doesn't know every Bible scripture like a super computer.
Nor those under his charge, how else do you think entire church's can be lead astray?

All it takes is touch of 'distortion' to warp actual Biblical interpretation.
And the corruption that follows can, and has, destroyed entire civilizations.

The enemy often uses lies hidden among bits of truth.
Hence, warfare of the spiritual.

If you are truly a Christian, you'll take to the most true of what Christ emulated. Compassion, understanding, humility. Yet most of all, conviction. You'll take those teachings to heart, and all the same keep in mind what the Word of God says.

Point, don't be a doctrinal nut, but be a fruit with heart.
That way when people get a bite of you, they'll know.

You're different from the rest...

Indeed! This is why I have an issue with organized religion. If God liked religious people he would have treated the Pharisees better instead of constantly disagreeing with their practices.

Well, part of why the Pharisees were so bad in the eyes of Christ.
They knew the doctrine and knew the scriptures (in fact even added onto them).

But, they had no heart. They'd become so engrossed in protocol and teaching.
They'd abandoned love itself. That was their greatest sin against God of all.

It didn't take Christ coming to know even in the Old Testament God could be merciful.

Just take Moses and when the Israelite's had sinned with the golden calf while Moses was getting the Ten Commandments. God said he would destroy the encampment for their betrayel, but then when Moses pleaded for them God heard. So they were spared.

Or like when Abraham pleaded for the life of Lot and his family in Sodom and Gomorrah. Hoping, that if there be even 50 righteous in the city it would be spared. Eventually making his way down to 10, and the Lord saying he would honor it. Note Abraham stopped asking, before God stopped giving.

God could show compassion even in the brutal olden times.
Doesn't mean he can't Judge, but does mean he honors the heart.

If the religious leaders had truly understood that compassion.
Perhaps things would've gone much differently when Christ came.

But alas, what happened with Christ needed to happen.
Otherwise we'd all be doomed for eternity.
