For me, my perception of archeology was forever distorted after watching Indiana Jones.
Watching him punch out Nazis, recover ancient artifacts, and somehow impress the hell out of every gal he's with. Geez, if only archeology was really so action packed.
Anyways, they are learning more and more from fossils each year. Although they still have no clue where humans came from, not that I'm surprised. But there is much that can be learned from digging up the past.
As to the actual picture fossils need decent conditions to be made. Conditions that would have existed during a global flood. I don't have the time to go into more detail than that right now.
