The original image is actually anti-science since it relies on a generalization.
To quote a huffingpost writer on this:
"Yes, some terrible things are done in the name of religion. But to tar every religion, every single religious person, with the same brush is nothing short of fundamentalist behaviour in its own right. It is unimaginable that somebody would generalise that all of science is responsible for the atom bomb and the gas chamber, but for some reason an equally ridiculous caption has been adopted by the masses."
And I think that sums up why any statements like the original is simply stupidity in its purest form. If we're going to condemn religion for what some extremist does, then by that same logic, we should condemn science because of any random unethical science experiment performed by a scientist that has resulted in human rights violations and deaths (and there are many) but this would also be stupidity.
