Thanks. I would smooth it but my render engine always messes it up so I just keep my renders un-smoothed. It also takes less time to render un-smoothed.

and it looks bad unsmoothed, and therefore smoothing groups can help ALOT. and smoothing groups takes no extra time to render what i know?

With the boolean operations I used, when ever I smooth, It doesn't tirn out well.

you will need to smooth it at some point for ingame if your doing it for a game

And for many engines, you can't even notice the smoothing. With a texture it'll look fine

Yes, it 'can' make a difference. In this case, It doesn't. When smoothed, with meshes that have had boolean modifiers, it just doesn't look right.
