Wow 2012 you were certainly a feature packed year. Every mod that flew the flag of release this year expanded our horizons, crushed expectations and fulfilled fantasies. In order to make the battlefield for the 2012 Mod of the Year awards even we have compacted a whole year into 4 different articles to make it easier for you at home to cast your votes. Here is the last article covering October and November for twenty dozen.
The year is 2531. In the year 2531, during the infancy of the Human-Covenant war, human scientists stumbled upon a new world. Named "Lumoria", the planet was laden with both flora and fauna as alien as anyone had ever seen before. Nestled amongst the planet's varying terrain lie architecture left behind by a once seemingly all-powerful race known as the Forerunners. But what began as a scientist's greatest dream of study and discovery quickly turned into destruction and terror when the Covenant found the planet as well.
More like a professional game release than a mod, it includes creative new gameplay features, dozens of unique AI, and a complete set of custom art assets, allowing players and mappers alike to enjoy missions in a gothic steampunk universe. When you play The Dark Mod, you feel like you're playing a gothic stealth game…there’s nothing left that’s recognizable from Doom 3.
Back to School is a full featured Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 campaign. The storyline is not interfere with none of this games and offer completely new setting of Borden city, struggling to survive in an epidemic apocalypse alongside with original 4 heroes. They are getting a chance to save themselves, since USA marines are coming in town and not falling back this time. But during the battle apogee something goes terribly wrong and local school - the most safe place in city - turns out to be a death trap.

I love the Mod (Back to School) to Lift 4 Dead! :D
"Lift 4 Dead" :DD
sounds like a game show hosted by zombies.
more like a transportation servise for dead bodies
So downloads released within the first phase of voting don't count? :p
If anyone hasn't tried out Casus Belli yet I'd strongly advise doing so, it's a really fun mod with awesome map design. You can play it with the Crysis Wars trial client which you can get for free. The only problem right now is low player numbers
The Dark Mod Trailer here is a bit outdated. There's a newer version here:
(every body vote to wreckage)
No More Room in Hell!
;)
You forgot Diaspora.
Oh wait, you didn't.
Thank you for the recognition Henley!
It may be a bit gratuitous to say this but since the release of Doom 3 BFG Edition was devoid of mod tools, I feel that The Dark Mod, Hexen: EOC, Arx: EOS, Grimm and other Doom 3 total conversions or mods should be a be on the minds of a few more gamers out there when considering the future of modding.
That said, the release of the BFG source code does (by way of crowd sourcing) restore mod support to the game. In fact, Justin Marshall over at Doom3world already merged the old Doom 3 Radiant map editor into BFG.
As you can see, however, it's still quite cumbersome to make content for the new edition and it will take awhile to get this back to where the original Doom 3 mod scene was. Fortunately, the original Doom 3 source was also released and is compatible with mods. It could be at this level or worse for modders from now on, unless we vote with out wallets and keep this discussion in the public eye...
