Hey guys, today marks the launch of the second annual IOTY awards, so, in reaction to this event, I have posted this article to tell you all to vote for us for IOTY 2011!!
IOTY is here:
Yes that did rhyme, and no it was not on purpose. But anyways, IOTY 2011 has just launched today, and we here at Leatharian Studios, developing Wake Up Call, would just like to make an announcement. Our project started in June 2011, when I, inspired by Madison Rogers, a friend of mine, took an idea and grew it and grew it until it became the Wake Up Call that you all know and love now. It all started with an idea which grew into a Design Document, who's first iteration was finished in early August 2011. Then we expanded, looking for Concept Artists to help us bring our game into a viewable thing, somethign you could see and look at and say, "That is Wake Up Call." Since then we have made tons of progress, recruiting almost non-stop, sitting at a pretty 10 developers right now. And, after sifting through a fair amount of people who just weren't right for the project, we are confident we have a good team with reasonable strength and the will to make this game a reality. Those of you who have been with us since the beginning know that we have been through a lot as a team and put out some great content; however, more notoriety will certainly not hurt us, which is why we want to win the IOTY awards. We have come so far and done so much, and as a special gift, I am releasing another weapons sheet, this time full of pistols, a full three days in advance. So, please, vote for us for IOTY 2011, we won't disappoint, because the more people know and comment and see our game, the more we are inspired to continue faster and better than before.
The Weapon Sheet:
Our wonderful Steffen Nakatsusaka, excellent Concept Artist, has done it again. In case you were wondering, he was the one responsible for the first batch of weapons, assault rifles actually, that was released over two months ago. Below is the sheet and the old one as well, for comparison's sake. Please give your feedback in the comments section below.
Again, thanks for your undying support, and vote for us for ITOY 2011!
Assault rifle: I like #3 and #5 (theyre unique compared to other games). All honesty, all the gun concepts look good.
Pistol: #2, but make it have a blade for close quarters.
Interesting thought, maybe we will do that if we can (about the pistol blade) and good to hear you like all of the concepts.
Assault rifle #1 feels really Mass Effect like :D
Was that on purpose or did that just happen? :P
Love AR 3 & 5, followed by 4, 1 and then 2.
When I gave Steffen the assignment, I told him specially to take a look at ME2 guns, so it was I guess on purpose, although that was not what I intended.
Guys, those pistols would be uncomfortable as hell to hold, and they look unattractive. What you're missing is round grips, would make each and every one of them look better.
Thanks for the feedback, I will look into it, I promise.
