Vector Thrust on WINE | Locked | |

I transferred from Windows to Linux the other day, and after installing WINE I decided to see if Vector Thrust would work. I didn't expect it to work, and as it turns out, my expectation were fulfilled. As of now, if you try to run the game it just crashes right from the get go. I'd be great if VT can be made to run on WINE at least. |

Linux compatibility would be great and all but, I think there's a lot of other fixes/additions to the game that might be a bit higher priority. Just my observation at the current incubator state, I know nothing special. |

Yeah. I actually doubt Linux support will ever be implemented, as there is a bunch of things that need to be worked on. But one can always hope. Bumping this thread with a ogre.log file. I looked at it, and it's spouting some errors, but I am having a hard time understanding what exactly happened. |

I realize this thread is old but considering the lack of information on getting Vector Thrust to run in WINE I thought it might be helpful for me to post here how I was able to successfully get Vector Thrust to run. Using a fresh install from steam I initially had an openal error message when I tried to run Vector Thrust. To remedy this I used winecfg to create an openal32 library override which was set to (native, builtin). This solved the crash and now the game appears to work flawlessly in a wine environment. |

None that I have noticed, though I haven't been paying too much attention. Usually when I play I have that sweet spanish guitar song from ace combat zero playing in the background which tends to drown out everything except the missile warnings. I can say with a fair bit of certainty that there are no glaring errors that would make me play with my computer muted though, if that helps. |
