As mentioned in the other thread, maybe prior to/after the early access release, we should set up a standalone community forum so that everything shouldn't only stick to ModDB/Steam forum. Preferably with file upload/download facility as well. For the name, I'd like to call it.....Project V. |

Hold on there cowboy. As far as I'm concerned that's a jump too forward. We already got these forums and the Steam community forums on the way. We'll see how it handles the Steam release before we kick up an actual stand alone forum. No need to manage more things than we need to. |

I think Nergal01 meant to create an independent forum where is the community that manage all the post, threads and content. I think that is good idea, the downside of the modddb and steam forums is that it will always be under the watchful eye of the developer. So I think it would be great for the Vector Thrust if the community could have their own space, completely autonomous and outside of the control of the developer. I canĀ“t help you with this but I hope you are successful in making it. |

Do you mean it's on the line of ES 3.0 or ACS? Or is it a dev-only forum? TS got the point however, I'm thinking something of ES3.0 or YSFlightHQ or CombatAce counterpart for VT. Plus it should serve as modding community as well. I still can't figure how to create a forum myself however. Well, even if I'm going to do it, it may would take one or maybe a couple of years to do that, depending on the situations. -- anon wrote: 'anon' wrote: Now I shall use this 'Vector Thrust Threshold' to measure how awful your product is |

I was thinking of making my own topic about this when I saw the discussion come up a few days ago. Personally, I have been at the top of a few forums. No big names that anyone might recognize, just some gaming clans and other miscellaneous things. But I know how to set it all up. Only catch would be that it would either be on a free forum host (maybe ZetaBoards or ProBoards), or using an open-source engine under my website's domain name. The problem with the free forum host is that we'll have restricted features as compared to a paid host like Invision Power Boards. There is one other option: Invision Power Boards, on their cloud. However, I don't have money in my pocket to invest in this at all (plans are $20/month for 2 GB data storage, $30/month for 3 GB, $45/month for 4 GB, $70 for 6 GB, and so on). To that end, I could probably initiate a Kickstarter/Indiegogo/some other funding website campaign to bring the cost together. What I will agree with Nergal01 on is that we should start Project VT (I like Project VT better than Project V if that's alright ) ASAP. Early Access starts next week or the week after (God willing), and gamers will start to come alive on the forums. Eventually, Desura and ModDB need to be taken out of the loop, leaving only the Steam forums and potentially Project VT. What do you guys think? I'm more than happy to join the contribution effort to this game's community, having experience through this stuff. EDIT: I'd also like to mention that IPS offers a 5-day trial. I could set one up and invite the community to test it out and we'll see how that goes, if we want to go the paid route. Edited by: SlyAceZeta |

I don't have the dough to contribute much either, Sly. -- "Too much fire gives birth to nothing." - Gol, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind |
