The power-ups mechanic has inspired me of this idea: Imagine a standard deathmatch with ALL players start without ammo AT ALL, and the only way to replenish the ammunition is by picking up the power-ups literred around the map. The problem is that the power ups won't respawn once someone picked them up so the only way to gain more ammo is by killing other players to turn them into power up pinata. Dead player will obviously has to start over with 0 ammo left.
The power ups left by dead player will disappear after certain lifespan, but they'll respawn back randomly at the map. If all power ups have been picked up yet all players ran out of ammo, all power ups will automatically respawn as normally.

I really like this idea.

It'd be interesting to have different varieties, like Only Sub Weapon, Only Main, Only Special, then some mixed versions that give less ammo of each. I imagine that the balance would hover around 30-60 rounds for cannons, 4-6 missiles, and 2-4 special weapons for ONLY pickups, while the mixed bag gives 20 rounds, 2 standard and 1 special.

I think pickups might need to start respawning as soon as one player runs out of ammo though, since it's no fun to be the only one getting shot at, with an increase in pickups dropped for every player who has run out.

Though it might be unfeasible pickups might need some kind of in-HUD indication for how much time they have before despawning.
