Since we've lost count of how many people missed the alpha back before Iceberg took place as publisher, I think it should be a good idea to make an Early Access release, at least let's say, a month before the official launch?

Mar 6 2014 Anchor

Don´t quote me on this because I don't know the exact conversation, but from what I´ve been told the icebergs asked Steam to allow VT to be an early access. but it appears Valve told them that this kind of game wouldn´t work that well in that system.

That, and the Steam version of VT is for feedback on important gameplay mechanics and other stuff, so it's riddled with bugs and placeholders.

Also because there's not much material to be shown in the way of trailers and updated reports and manuals.

I'd certainly enjoy that, but doubt it's possible listed by those above.

Yukkuricraft.net

Vector Thrust is headed to Steam Early Access! Release date is set for around mid-late Q2.

Funny you said that on your own, Sider.

Or was it the currently ongoing 'closed, dev-only beta' you and FlyAway are working on?

Early Access was confirmed very, very long ago, I think.

Sider is a bit more loose lipped than me here, of course he's the one more in the know than me nowadays.

Even then, I make sure I only post stuff that TS has already talked about. I'm certain there was a post made about Early Access really long ago where he first denied it and then confirmed it.

But, what TS previously said:

I never knew Steam finally accepted VT for early access though. But remembering that about 50% of Iceberg's library are in Early Access, I'm not surprised.

Lol, slight information leak.
But really no harm done.

I didn’t already went public with this because I still have little information to share, and I was also waiting for an official iceberg’s press release.

But this is reason I’m more silent lately because I’m on a rampage in fixing all bugs and issues, the idea is to release as it was the final code but with some content missing.

On the bright side, at least we can keep it in Early Access until take-off/landing mechancs and proper cockpit view for at least 80% of the planes are implemented.

I agree with that, I also think that would be a good opportunity to add those features.

Make sense since the backlash would be much worse should those two hasn't been added yet in the full release IMHO.

Hell, just as long as we get more people into the new build, 'cause I enjoy playing with pings across from Australia and France.

Also because I'd like to see what a few of these content creators in the silent majority would do with the updated editors and plane templates.

my bad guise.

May 7 2014 Anchor

I actually have a question to ask. If I was part of the alpha funding, before Vector Thrust got itself a publisher, will I get the steam early access or the full game?

May 7 2014 Anchor

Every alpha funder will have both early access to the finished version (when it is done).

But because I imagine that delivering all the keys to all alpha funders may take some time, and also there will be a brief period where the early access build is ready but the final promotional materials are still being made (I heard that having all steam images can be tricky), I’ll use that period to distribute the keys to all supporters.

I’ll try, but I don’t think that will be possible to give access to the game before going live, but at least I want to everyone be able to play it as soon it is up in the store
