Command & Conquer Red Alert 2: Apocalypse Rising, brings Westwood Studios' popular real time strategy game, C&C: Red Alert 2 into the FPS pespective, using the w3d engine. You will be able to experience, first hand, what it feels like to fill the boots of an Allied GI battling the communist might of the Soviet Union, or a Soviet Conscript vowing to take back what was lost to the Allies during the first great war. Classic units return such as the versatile Allied IFV to the mighty Soviet Apocalypse Assault Tank to the gargantuan Allied Aircraft Carrier to the mad Giant Squids. This game features all of the units and structures for the Allied and Soviet sides from both RA2 and the Yuri's Revenge Expansion. The Apocalypse is Rising Commander. Are you prepared for it? (Credit goes to everyone who has donated and contributed to this mod. We shall not let you down).

The model is excellent. Just the name is wrong imo.
Typhoon is the NATO name for Project 941 which is a lot bigger than this (the only real double hull submarine and the biggest ever built).
This submarine looks more like a modified Project 671 "Victor class" with the distinctive sonar pod on the tail, but here with twin propellers.

We're following Red Alert 2, where this unit is called the Typhoon; irrespective of what it may have looked like or been called in real life.

Description

Don't adjust your monitors, because you are reading it right! The Soviets are invading the seas thanks to Romanov! He has been working on the Sea Scorpion and Typhoon Attack Sub!

We were originally going to include naval units in a later patch, but we decided that we could implement a couple of soviet units to decorate certain maps with (although the Sea Scorpions might serve as ai defences on some maps to protect against Harrier attacks from the sea).

The Typhoon is the first naval combat unit available to Soviet players, and requires only a naval yard to construct. Only Allied destroyers and dolphins can detect them while they are submerged. Typhoons are, in turn, also capable of detecting and firing on other submerged units. While the submarines themselves are invisible, the torpedoes are not, which allows an observant player to more or less guess the location of the submarines even if the player can't see the submarines.
Typhoon attack submarines can be intentionally surfaced by friendly fire as well. Typhoons also have no defense against aircraft and, unlike the Destroyer, cannot attack ground units.
