Miasmata is a first-person survival/adventure game, developed from the ground-up by brothers Joe and Bob Johnson. You play as Robert Hughes, a plague-stricken scientist on a journey to discover a cure. Your adventure begins on the shores of a remote island called Eden. Long ago, Eden was inhabited by a group of indigenous people, whose extant monuments still decorate the island landscape. Eden is now home to a scientific research outpost, and it is your hope to reunite with your colleagues working there. You'll soon discover that something has gone terribly wrong. Miasmata is a game of survival, exploration and discovery. Our goal was to create gameplay that was unconventional. We wanted an immersive experience that gives the player the freedom to discover the world at his/her own pace and in his own way.

It's a fun game, albeit I did have some performance issues even though I'm running a high-end PC.

Still though, it's a fun time if you're into exploration and survival games.

3.5 hours in... incredible so far. It seems like it will be a very long game too. I'll be sure to provide (the first?) review when I'm done. To hell with the low scores.

I'm an hour in and I'm just going to give up - the game feels terribly arbitrary, the movement is dreadful, and even when I turn the graphics settings down and run it at 1080p, it's still really slow. It's a shame because the concept sounds nice.

Graphics are very dated but with modern lighting and better shadows. That doesn't take away from its brilliance though.
