Pick up the crowbar of research scientist Gordon Freeman, who finds himself on an alien-infested Earth being picked to the bone, its resources depleted, its populace dwindling. Freeman is thrust into the unenviable role of rescuing the world from the wrong he unleashed back at Black Mesa. And a lot of people, people he cares about, are counting on him.

Description

So, here's a singleplayer small dev puzzle map I made using hammer that runs on hl2. Originaly for the wireframe mapping challenge I used the starting map for that as the base. It's not too hard because this is really my first puzzle map, made sort of in preparation for a mod I'm planning.

It was pretty alright, I guess.

Spoiler alert!

A few bugs, problems and things to improve:
Puzzles weren't that puzzling and the first one (in the screenshot) didn't make sense.
The Zombie didn't want to visit me, he stayed in his little hideout the whole map long.
Also, the buttons stopped working when I removed a box.
Only after accidentally dropping the remaining box on another box (and the button trigger area) the lifts started working again.
I was firstly annoyed by the fact that I had to go back and fetch the remaining box for the button, but I actually enjoyed it somehow. :P
The light source in the water tunnel looked like an air bubble, it confused me as I tried to get into it and grasp some air.
There were a few clipping issues/glitches in the water.
The falling rock thing in the end was kind of lame, and falling on the wrong side and having to redo everything would put many players off.
Finally, the finale was funny, I liked that winrar pun. :D
Just add a entity that brings the player back to the main menu after, say, 5 seconds.

After that being said, good map. And I look forward to your forthcoming mod.

Pretty nice, the atmosphere was good and the architecture complimented it, but why dev textures? Is there some special significance?
Anyway, the puzzles worked pretty well - perhaps a bigger payoff for going back for the last block would have improved the experience (since it didn't add much to the game to climb and go all the way back)
Nice work, I enjoyed it, hope to see more!

It was originally made for a contest that required dev textures, I like the style it gave so I continued using them for the rest of the map as well. Also I think that dev textures work well for puzzle maps because they don't over complicate the environment, nothing but the essentials.
