You are sent to war-torn Africa to assassinate The Jackal, a mysterious arms dealer who has rekindled conflict between local warlords, jeopardizing thousands of lives. In order to fulfil your mission you will have to play the warring factions against each other, identify and exploit their weaknesses, and neutralize their superior numbers with surprise, subversion, cunning and, of course, brute force.
Cliffhanger is an entry in the What the...? Competition. Inspired by the original Halo map Boarding Action, this map is a standard town built around a railroad. All is normal, save for the fact that the entire town is built on the side of a vertical cliff. The town of cliffhanger is designed for team deathmatch play, but works well with any game mode. The map is split in half by a train. Each base is located at either end of the train. Although it might seem that the map caters to sniping, you will find that putting a round through someone's head across the map is harder than you would think.
my apologies, this is not the correct preview image. if you want to see the correct image, i posted it on my blog at
msfrisbie dot wordpress dot com
also, i was dorky enough to name this page my name instead of the map name. the map name is Cliffhanger.
i did that too.......
~snip~
I only just noticed you cant edit your addons anymore.
I can edit mine. It must be an issue with FC2's game profile.
Edit: sent an email about it.
There we go. Turns out you CAN update.
Please post about the quality of the map!
This is a ******* awesome, and ******* original map. Seriously. From the overall layout of the map, to the fine details and furnishings which make it come alive, to the little details like breakable wood on the train carrying the pipes. Overlapping levels prevent sniping, and ladders and such make height advantage negligible.
10/10
lol Cool id,nice job.
Was going to attempt a map that had buildings on the ground, walls and ceiling but figured it wasn't all that great.
I didn't think too much of this either... And it's not that hard to do a made side ways trumpetgod ....
excuse me for being bitter, but it is hard to comprehend someone putting so little thought into a comment- exactly as you did. i know damn well you can just make a map on flat land, select the whole thing and rotate it 90 degrees. what YOU fail to take into account is that that would be a remarkably ****** map. connecting all the buildings appropriately, working around all the invisible walls that don't exactly match the contours of the buildings, and getting the fall damage distances exactly right are all examples of things that take large quantities of time AND are necessary for the map to play well.
Just downloaded and played, and only niggle I have is the side wall that it's all based on.
Personally I would have layed down a whole bunch of cliff rocks on the ground so that they were facing up to the sky. Then I would have built the town on those rocks without all the walkways and so on.
Then I would have selected it all, rotated it sideways, making sure there were no snapping check boxes ticked. Then I would have added all the walkways and so on, which would really be a game in itself to make, it would be fun.
So good work.
Nice!
Very interesting map....
Little dark but it's OK :)
