You wake up in a dark alley, not knowing anything. What has happened anyway? You struggle after the truth and answers. Answers you want to know in the darkness and fear, which makes your heartbeat race like violent blows against your head. Where do "they" come from? What has happened? Are you just turning insane? The time is up; you can't stay there reading your smses forever. It's time to head out and find the answers. Cry of Fear is a singleplayer modification of Half-Life 1 which brings you the horror you've always been afraid of. It's a total conversion of Half-Life 1, which means it uses NO Half-Life 1 content or other peoples' files. It's all made exclusively by the developers. It also uses new gaming styles that you will rarely find in Half-Life mods, such as advanced cutscenes and other stuff that will be revealed at a later date.
Yeah
gently down the stream...
I have to admit, after this I thought everything was over, then the stairs broke T-T
After the stairs broke, I thought everything was over and then the chainsaw dude appeared ;(
Same here bro. Then you make that last desperate push XD.
definitely.. the most realistic screen of the game
I really enjoyed the peacefulness of this scene.
One must realize that the Nightmare is NEVER over until you truly "wake up"... ^^ That's why I was SO hoping for what happened when you reach the stairs... :D
I had a gut feeling something might happen, but I wasnt expecting a last push XD.
merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a NIGHTMARE!
My first thought when I saw this was, "This is a half-life ONE mod?!"
I remember seeing it a long time ago and thinking, this looks really weird yet somehow interesting, only to find out sometime later, horror mod hunting for Half-Life 2, someone would mention Cry of Fear being nowadays best horror mod on Youtube, then realizing its scaryness by a montage of scream videos, I played it knowing grown men were crapping themselves XD.

Thank god it is just a cutscene. If it was been a able-to-control with some ****s in the water, gosh.
It isn't a cutscene.
Did you even PLAY the game?

my reply of answer will get over thrice negative karmas of my comment above :P
Definitely one of my favorite moments in the game. When you leave the asylum and it's ******* DAYLIGHT. It's like a Nightmare that slowly loses it's menacing quality as you gently wake up. Then, as you reach the town and it's bright sunlight, you have plenty ammunition and health, the enemies pose no threat whatsoever you feel like you're in a lucid dream, you start to overcome the nightmare
Its at the peak of his strength that the game takes a desperate turn. You feel like the fear of these enemies is disapearing, then you face something else. You pretty much summed up the epicness of the last portion of the game good sir :D.
The funny thing is I didn't realize the water effect is something special for a HL1-mod until the developer commentaries. Completely forgot HL1 didn't have anything like this.
Nevertheless I nice scene as it is in such a harsh contrast to what one just went through right before it.
The water effect is a little buggy for me...like when I look slightly away it ***** up a bit...like when you have cable probs with your TV and get those black and white bugs all over...
FIGHT THE POWAH
That was the best part of this mod.
man, hearing those birds and seeing the morning sky after that long, long night sent a shiver down my spine
row row row your boat---- AANND some floating guy strapped to a bed already killed me.
