This is the full version of Chasm: The Rift with various fixes/patches from all around the internet to make it as pleasent a DOSBox experience as possible. It includes the bonus levels, properly looping cd music, and a modified PS10 file that dramatically improves performance. I have been told that multiplayer also works, although it doesn't on my system.
In addition I've included whatever Chasm-related stuff I could find, including boxart images, mp3 versions of the ost tracks, and the archived Chasm website from archive.org. Old (untested) versions of Chasm can also be found in the old versions folder.
Chasm and the bonus levels can be run with the appropriate batch file.
If the batch files don't work or something, or you prefer to just run DOSBox directly, create a shortcut to Chasm/DBox/DOSBox.exe and add "-conf chasmdos.conf" to the target box. For bonus levels, create a shortcut and add "-conf chasmadd.conf" to the target box.
a full .bin image of the Chasm CD release is included in Chasm/music. Likely the level editor is there somewhere. At some point I'll probably attempt to pull it out and get it working as well.
I also need to track down the game's original readme.
NOTE: this is a comilation of fixes/etc. All credit for those fixes goes to other people. Whoever they are. I just cobbled it together and made the crappy high-res icon.

Added pdf game manual and readme in the documentation folder because why not. Also got the level editor working!
Documentation for the level editor can be found in the "Documentation" folder (CSM_EDIT.txt). The editor itself can be run via "Run Editor.bat." User levels can be run with "Run User Levels.bat." Simply press backspace to open the console once in-game and type "go ##" (## being whatever your user level is).
There's a catch though. It seems that user levels crash by default.
TO MAKE YOUR LEVEL FUNCTIONAL go to ./Chasm/USERMAP/LEVEL##/SOUNDS and change DR_BAC01.wav to "DR_BACK.wav". I don't know why you have to do this, but random Spanish websites about obscure first person shooters from the 90s apparently do not lie.
Great work!
Fantastic stuff! Maybe Civvie would review this now X)
Thank you.
Gmanlives should too.
gmanlives already did in 2017
Flash forward to 2022 and Civvie's done it.
Civvie just did
This is great. I bought this when it came out and was impressed with the atmosphere but could never get very far in it. It was either broken or I couldn't figure out how to progress. Now I'm halfway through the game and having a great ole' nostalgic feeling playing through it...20 plus years later. hahaha.
Thanks for this.
maybe i'm just bad at dosbox (a good possibility) but when i run this it cuts off a significant portion of the top of the screen regardless of resolution i choose.
is there a particular resolution that doesn't do this that you can trigger manually through a config or ini file?
This works mint! Thanks for putting this all together :D This is like a GOG-lite release.
You are an amazing person for making these files available and easy to install.

thanks!great work!
This worked really well on my system (Win10, Ryzen7, AMD RX470, FreeSync), I could select 640 x 480 on the in-game menu, and got correct aspect ratio. Only during the intermission/briefing do I get noticeable screen tearing.
Great job!
I have never even heard of this game, and I read magazines like HYPER during the time of Quake's release so I imagine it sank under the radar. This has some great pixel art on the textures, low-poly modelling is fine and is very competently done, but it's no Quake or Doom.
Also the wind generator in the first map is completely baffling -- it looks like the devs thought wind generators made the wind, rather than utilized the wind to make electricity.

Messages when picking up items don't seem to show for me, is that normal?

I need help, whenever I get into the game to start playing the character moves and and aims on its own, always looking down and moving to the right even without keyboard or mouse attached to it, how do I fix this?
This happens to me as well. I had to unplug my controller, and it stopped (restart the game if it was running while plugged in).
It worked! Thank you so much! Now for some chasm
I'm having rather horrendous issues with mouse drifting. I'm sitting there, doing nothing, and my character is incessantly aiming down and to the right. What is going on here?
Try doing what I suggested above, and unplug your controller.
Im having this issue as well, but I dont have a controller plugged in

Weird issue: The mouse movement doesn't work as intended, and the player rotates 360 degrees non-stop.
