Is there a way to see the area of effect of my spells on screen? or a mod for this? i mean, a circle or something, its annoying to accidently hit members of my own party >.<

As an avid player of both, BG2 takes the cake.
IWD, lost lots of the spell caster interest, especially 2.
depends what you want.
BG is better characters and story, IWD is more challenging with more rewarding combat.
This game is freaking awesome!
I'm playing this now with the Baldur's Gate Trilogy mod (BGT). I played it a long time ago and it still rocks!
