0 A.D. is a free, open-source, cross-platform real-time strategy (RTS) game of ancient warfare. It's a historically-based war/economy game that allows players to relive or rewrite the history of six ancient Western civilizations, from Iberia to Persia, each depicted at their peak of economic growth and military prowess. Developed using Pyrogenesis, a ground-breaking new game engine custom-built to suit this project, 0 A.D. will give players a rich and entertaining real-time gaming experience.
We've come such a long way this year. Please vote for us in IOTY 2012!

It's that time of year again.

For those unfamiliar with the event, each year ModDB and IndieDB hold a contest for the best mods and indie games of the year.
In previous years we have been nominated for the Editor’s Choice: Best Upcoming Indie (2008), won third place for Indie Game of the Year (2009) and received an Honorable Mention for Players’ Choice: Best Upcoming Indie (2010).
We've come a long way this year too. Just think about it: A year ago we had no Romans in the game, and Hellenes and Celts were grouped into one faction each. There were no technologies or civilization phases, no trading system, and none of the amazing newly implemented graphical effects like specularity, ambient occlusion, etc.
As always, we want to win! More publicity means more players and probably more developers joining development, which is always great.
The nominations for the Top 100 have just begun, and will be ongoing until December 11th.
Thanks in advance, from all of us on the 0 A.D. development team, also known as Wildfire Games.
Voted! :D
There's no game that deserves first place more than you. I want this completed more than any other commercial game out there... and you will revive a dying/dead genre.
Another thing, have you considered going to kickstarter to maybe hire full time workers?
Kickstarter only supports U.S.A bank accounts, which at the moment we don't want to lock ourselves to because we aren't a registered tax free organisation, so we'd be paying the government tax on all donations, which doesn't seem fair to our donators :-) It's something we're aware of though.
Yup, voted already
