United States cruiser Thread

This for Nova: The End of Peace. What do you guys think? The only thing I don't personally like about it are the gun turrets (they're the spheres with mohawks/ammo belts ):

Should be noted that I know it's missing something, so it's still a WIP.

not bad but... do you wear this on the shoulder? it looks a bit too heavy for me to carry around like that. perhaps because it's a bit long for hand-held.

I think it's not a gun. The title says cruiser, so it must be some vehicle. Though it kinda looks like a gun. Pretty cool whatever it is.

Thanks guys, and lol@Dragonlord. It's ok man, it's an honest mistake Anyway, umm, the thing's actually for a space game/mod I'm doing, hence cruiser. (and it's a pimp for anyone who wants a great vehicle designer lol)

Anyway, I'm still finishing it due to some comments here (mainly the thin one) and other places. Stay tuned!

While the model looks fine the way the ship is set up seams unrealalistic. The blind spot for the guns is huge. (cant think of what to call it. I mean the areas where the ship can not shoot.) An enemy can attack it from underneath and from behind and it cant do any thing about it. Also that limits its ability to monuver in combat and they do not have the ability to really monuver a less dammaged side.

Its not made to be a fighter its a cruiser. Usally means a larg ship that provides artillery from a distance or heavy gun fire.

US capital ship combat doctrine is based on a combined arms theory, where fighters are launched from carriers and sent to escort cruisers forward. Once the cruisers are engaging the enemy, the larger ships such as destroyers and battleships provide rear cover and heavy weapons launch capability from a safe distance.

However, if the enemy is engaged in close combat, supercapitals are to fall behind cruisers. Cruisers provide heavy frontal fire, and supercapitals provide rear and side covering fire.

But yes, good point about the frontal firing arc being too small. But also note that big guns, while they do enormous amounts of damage, missiles can also do large amounts as well

dont you think the main cannons are a tad too big ? considering the no friction environment of deep space size would not be as important as the velocity.

*grin*... didn't think in the first time this should be a ship because i've seen the most funny names for guns out there and the front really looked to me like a gun...

It actually does look a gun, if i hadnt just read about it i probably wouldve guessed it being a gun, but other than that its looking good

I see ALOT of bad poly flow in that. If you can fix it up, then id say its very good.

Yea, I know some parts of the mesh are messy. But it's almost impossible to fix it
